Not my kinda bike. Too straight up, too close to the bars. First few corners were scary because I'm really not used to such a riding position. At a higher speed the wind got really uncomfortable, so I'll stick with my XB9R  . I'll also stick with my Drummer. The CityX had a race ecm, K&N and D&D. Man it was so slow. It felt strong at 5000+ but nothing compared to my lil' bolt. A pull from 3000rpm in 5th to ~110mph took forever. To make it really go I had to downshift to 3rd. It felt like torture for the bike to ride below 4000. After the testride I was eager to get back on my own bolt to feel difference ... the BIG difference. I'm really happy with my bike  Before all hell breaks loose in another D&D against Drummer discussion ripping the already fragile peace between the two camps apart  just kidding guys, remember this is my personal opinion and not the least important, its on a 9, not on a 12. I find the D&D useless on the street and insanely loud. My Drummer's already a tad too loud for my preference, but the D&D sounds like the dragpipes on my bros old sporty. Cool for others, I love to watch those drive by, but not to ride it myself. I prefer the serenity of my Drummer . | ||

I had a D&D on a XB12R and it had nothing below 3000 rpm's. I really noticed it with a passenger. I now have a new Drummer and its so smooth and pulls hard from 2000 rpm's to redline.  | ||

I have a CityX with the Drummer, K&N and race ECM. I think it runs great. I have no Buell comparison as this is the first Buell I have ever ridden or owned. I have owned many bikes before and work in the industry so I have an idea of what a 1000cc bike should run like. I can say the Drummer works way better than the race muffler I had previously installed. I have a standard Drummer and it's louder than I would like as well. Earplugs every ride or you will be deaf in 15 minutes. | ||

Thats whats so good about this forum , all can give their own opinions of what they like not meaning they are the best choices and all..! LoL As this old 50+ year old fella Loves the Force and its performance,Well the sound theirs none like it,unless you LOve the HArley Sound and only Better,(must guys I ride with are Harley Riders,only because more than buells around here some buells maybe 10 or 11 IF we could ever organize a run,) they only wish their rides could sound as good as mine... LoL And I don`t even wear ear plugs,my hearing now is as good as a 20 year old, Oh What did you say?? :-) | ||

anyone ever consider alternatives like: termignoni, kerker, etc... termi's are on motogps & its the standard upgrade on other vtwins like particularly, ducati. also, had a budy who had kerker on his v-max .. sounded like nascar. termi's on ducatis keep noise down, performace up & a deep rumble at idle w/ kinda raspy growl at revs. tho saying that, i heard a BLAST! w/ a vance & hines on that sounded the tits!! it was like a harley, just a tad quieter. oh, i rode it too, it pulled like a pitbull compared to standard BLAST!'s ... i think the blast is a fun starter bike tho. | ||

Its funny how some people say they have ridden both the Drummer and the D&D, one will say the Drummer feels much stronger , the other will say the D&D feels much stronger. I wish they were all cheaper so we could own em all. | ||

i use a wileyco pipe that seems to perform well from idle on up with no flat spots. it is not too loud but very thumpy sounding. i am not a fan of the d and d either. as a tech i have installed them, ridden them and dont like them. too loud and no bottom end power. phil | ||

One day I will own a S1. On another day I will own a race prepped Laverda 1000 SFC. I'm not sure which one I will own first. I think the Laverda. | ||

From my own experience on my 9 and all that I've read here, the Drummer is generally the pipe of choice for performance on the 9s. Some folks may disagree on the best pipe for sound. When it comes to the 12s there is less consensus of opinion on which pipe is the better performer. Kevin is well aware of this and has worked all winter on tweaking the new 12 Drummer to a higher level of performance. I think he achieved his goal with his mods and the TFI addition. It's a point that's still open to opinion. The new Drummer SS is designed, detail drawings made, manufacturing methods defined and we are now in prototype production. Rest assured that we will give it a full test regimen before we try to sell them. One thing the Drummer crew has above the competition is that we are all Buell owners and are designing for Buell only. We aren't adapting semi standard mufflers used on other bikes to fit Buells. We also have different designs for the XB9 and the XB12s. I know because I made all the drawings for them. | ||
