I should have had it checked before the Spring rush hit. The service writer told me they were already scheduling for the second week in June but if I brought it in they would get to it ASAP. Something isn't quite right with my CityX...nothing major I think...mostly annoying. It seems to me that the fan has been running too much, even in cool weather at highway speeds. After I've been riding a while, the engine starts running a bit rough and I have to increase the RPM's 1000 or so to smooth it out. When I stop, I notice it is idling approx 100-200 RPM faster than it was when I started out. I don't think it's going into skip spark mode...its not that dramatic and I've never noticed the engine light. I had the race kit on it briefly and the way the bike runs after it gets "hot" reminds me of how it ran with the kit on... kind of "choppy" at engine speeds less than 4K. A couple of astute BadWebbers suggested that one of the sensors might be sending bad data to the ECM so I passed that theory on to the service writer. So I'm probably Buell-less for a couple of weeks or so, with no guarantee that they will feel what I have observed, or that the computer will show anything is wrong...that's my biggest concern...that they will have my bike for 2-3 weeks and not be able to find anything wrong with it. I have another bike I can ride but I've become rather attached to the Buell. Anyway...while I'm at the dealer, a couple pulls up on a Harley dresser...both are wearing good armored mesh riding gear and full face helmets and the bike is loaded down with stuff. The guy rudely yells [in a heavy French accent] at the service writer who is listening to my description of the symptoms and taking notes..."We need the 25,000 mile inspection done!...How long will it take?" The service writer is visibly stunned  and I'm biting my tongue, thinking... Are you out of your friggin mind? There are no less than 30 bikes lined up outside with service tags on them. He tells the guy that they are extremely busy, but he will ask the service manager if they can do anything. A couple minutes later I go inside to sign the service order form and the Frenchman is ragging on the service manager because he can't work them in today. The SM even holds up the schedule sheet to illustrate that they are 3-4 weeks behind on scheduled service. The SM asked them where they are headed to next [he's probably thinking maybe they could call ahead to another dealership and make some arrangements]. The woman replies, " We don't know...we're just travelling...I can't believe you can't take us today...we've never had a problem getting in for service while we have been travelling...I don't understand this!" I've noticed as the weather gets warmed my fan runs a bit more during highway and interstate speeds. Drives me nuts. | ||

if the heat is bothering your nuts then you should pick up a heat barrier from Odie, great work and will cut the heat way down. | ||

Don't feel bad. They will have had mine 3 weeks this Saturday and I still won't be getting it back until (hopefully) next Friday. That will make it nearly a month. | ||

ya, i bought the race ecm and thought i'd just drop it off for the tps reset. um, no a 3 week wait! Kinda nuts considering its a 30min deal. | ||

Hell, its more like 3 minutes if you rode it there, as it is already warm. Even my swamped local dealer can slip in a TPS reset, and I have never even been charged for it! Bruce | ||

The tps was one of the things I took mine in for as well (in addition to a leaking fork seal). When I called over two weeks ago, they said they could get it in on May 9th but if I brought it in now, they might be able to squeeze it in. Guess I should be glad that by the 9th, they had at least ordered the parts, which supposedly only showed up yesterday minutes before I called. |
