Hey everyone,

I just wanted to say hello. I've just passed the break in period on my XB9SX. I traded in a Honda CBR600RR which was a nice bike, but it was very uncomfortable. I finally decided that I wanted something a little more daily rider friendly and was lucky enough to have a Harley friend point me at Buell. The style and riding position of the CityX caught my eye. Something about a naked bike is just sexy. As I really didnt know what to expect, I was willing to have a much more comfortable bike to ride at the expense of losing some performance and went for a test run.
Holy Crap was I mistaken.
This bad boy kicks some serious butt. Now that I dialed in the suspension for me [Im 5'5" and 145lbs] I have found that I am waaaaaay more confident on the Buell and have been gliding through turns with a fluidity I never had on the Honda.

Add one happy Elff to the BadWeb crew.

likewise kelowna & the okanagan valley & rocky moontains, fool! ; )

i just rode my made in march '05 xb12r from calgary to kelowna (canada) .. what an ordeal THAT was .. mostly good .. i am as sore as a tied hog (pardon pun) .. but man i feel alive!!

here's the general scoop:

solo to kelowna from calgary .. ack .. nearly 8.5 hrs in the saddle .. yeah, i know its lame .. but cops were around all over ..

never ran out of gas & the buell only holds 14 liters .. longest stage was 149.5 km .. that was hard .. right in the middle of ride ..

beautiful scenery .. nice air too, massive bugs that seemed to unfailingly find SMACK in the middle of my visor .. so glad i gave up open face ..

that broke the bike in, right good!

for the statisticians amoung you: 180kmh fastest speed traveled (4300rpm in 5th gear).

most expensive gas: CA$1.07.9/L (revelstoke)

cheapest gas: CA$84.9/L 16th ave. calgary.

this was a new bike .. i had only 466kms on it prior to this journey .. i rode it in HARD .. its a proven 53 y.o. design .. it can take it!

congrats on city x .. definitely an interesting ride .. possibly the first one buell came straight out the box RIGHT on the money w/!?!

its funny .. i now feel i can handle a gsx-r1000, but maybe i'd wind up dead.

its mind blowing to think those things & thier ilk can do over 100mph in first??!! & they have *6* close ratioed gears to work w/ & some 30-odd #'s less dry weight??!

but u r right .. the buell has buckets loads of character & torque .. a cool - if weird - set of sounds .. & great stability in the corners once committed ..

twins are so cool!

Always good to see another SX rider on here. Welcome to the sickness.

Oh, put a race kit on the SX. The race kits makes this pic more valid.

If I could order the Race Kit from a Buell Dealer for the price you see on the Buell site I would definitely go that route, but since dealers mark up this stuff by a ridiculous amount, I think I am going to order the following 3 items from American Sportbike
17094 - 05 XB9 Race ECM
9300 - 03-05 Air Filter, High Flow K&N, Cleanable
17031, 17034 - Muffler, Buell Race Exhaust for XB models
And just have the dealer reset the TPS
I am going to de-snorkle it as well but am curious about what the following item
9304 - 03-05 XB Open Airbox Conversion Kit
Doesnt the CityX already have this done?

Elff, call Dave (1-866-757-1651 ask for Dave Stueve in the sales dept) He can get it for you for a good price. (He includes his 10% discount on it.)

No, it has the XB12 airbox. I've done a custom job to mine.

Aaa I re-read what that last part does. I misinterpreted it the first time. I saw on here that someone made a pretty killer billet custom catch can that would work really nice with the open Airbox conversion

Dave seems to really be the man. I see his name referred to all the time. I sure hope he makes commission on us loonies
: )
Once I move into the new house [Mid June] and I figure out what I need and dont need for the house I'll get this thing hooked up a little more. By then, I should have 3000 miles racked up on the CityX and will be able to appreciate the performance increase even more.

Shoot, by mid June I should have 10K on my bike. lol. Sorry, just busting on ya a bit. I've owned mine since November 9th. (Sure drives the service guys nuts just watching me put the miles on.)
