Anyone know if the Force header will work with a stock XB12R Muffler? I'm only looking for info on fitment.

Thanks in advance.

Thank you very much : ).

Looks nice BTW... I'll need to get my header coated black. That looks like the gen one header. Who did the coating for you and how much?

Yeah, I ended up getting a Special O.P.S. pipe instead. It sounds awesome and isn't as deafening as the Force pipe - but still sweet and still pulls damn strong. Haven't quite got the TFI tuned in yet but it seems to be pretty good.

It is a gen one header - it came from Force that way, so it's a JetHot coating. Not sure what they would charge to redo a Force pipe...

Thanks Mike & M1

It's getting there...couple of other slight tweaks...I can't get the stupid screws that hold the passenger ankle guards out so I haven't put the wrinkle black version of those on. New points cover on the way ; ) and then I'll be close to done - for now.

Indy - I'm not sure if they do. I bought the complete system and installed it, but it was just too loud (and if I left it on there I think I'd get lynched by the neighbors). I didn't really want to go through the process of removing the headers again so I sold the can to Hogs and got the Special O.P.S. exhaust.

OK here is my stupid question for the day...

What good do you get out of just getting the header? Is the diameter bigger than the stock or does the fact that it is longer change the back pressure somehow and all this increase hp's (I mean less restrictive)?

Now if this is the case would I be able to put a 12 header on my 9 and get some of the same affect (minus of course the difference in the length of the 12 compared to the force)?

Thanks for the info I am just trying to look at different options.

Shawn

Well...

The header is a stepped design. This means that as the exhaust cools the diameter gets smaller to keep the velocity up. The collector is also tuned differently than the stock header so it moves the power band around a bit. It's also a long tube design which as I recall helps with power in the lower rev range (and I think the collector is tuned for the high range).

AS I recall, the 12 header on a nine has been done and didn't work out so well.

The header is a stepped design. This means that as the exhaust cools the diameter gets smaller to keep the velocity up.

The "steps" get bigger diameter as it travels down the pipe to the exhaust exit. The steps as I understand break up the sound waves that cause reversion.

Hmmm... The Force exhaust has one heck of a reversion at 2500 revs...

One thing we haven't seen is a back to back comparo of the Force header and the stock header. I'm sure the reason is because it's a long and drawn out process to swap them...

I'd love to see it, but I've given my stock header and Muffler to a fellow Bueller in trade for a PCIII...

Thanks for the info guys...I feel much smarter now.
Just to clarify the 12 header is bigger...right?
I wonder what problems they had and if it could be helped with the TFI? Just thoughts..

A nine pipe on a twelve would probably make a tad more power down low, but start to wheeze a bit up top.
