So I thought I had finally beat on my bike enough to make it start knocking,Then I realized that it didn't do it when the bike wasn't moving,So I realized it had to be something in the brakes that I just replaced (front and rear pads).
My question is,WHAT THE HELL COULD BE TICKING!!!????
Replaced the pads as per the manual and cant see any obvious things that would tick.
Any ideas?

Thnx in advance.

Try pressing the front rotor in with your fingers at each mount point. If one of them is sticky I think that could cause a tick. The rear... Maybe a loose bolt on the rotor? That may cause a tick on the front rotor as well.

If you ride constant on a perfectly flat asphalt road, lets say 30mph, do you hear it too?
Is it regular or irregular?
Then shift up or down, keeping at 30mph. Is it the same or does it change?
Now change speed, does it change?
Stop, engage the front brake, put it in gear, give a little throttle and slowly let the clutch out. Do you hear the ticking?

If your still not sure if its from the engine, bring the bike up to speed, put it in neutral and shut down the engine. You're hearing it tick?

Make sure there is no screws or nails stuck in your tires.I have had that happen and cause a tick like that. Might also check the drive belt for anything abnormal

I'm starting to think it might be IN the motor.
If I do like ingerman says I cant hear it.
If I shut it down or pull in the clutch it goes away.
So what do you do if your bike is knocking?

Then I would think its clutch or gear related.

Put the stock pipe back on and maybe you can hear something other than your d&d ; )

It isn't easy but try to guesstimate the frequency of the tick. Is 1 per wheel rev or 1 per engine rev. etc. Go slowly down the road & listen carefully. You can often pinpoint a problem this way.

Maybe check primary chain tension...that's only thing I can think of.. maybe it will tick if it's way too loose..

Thaaaaaaats not iiiiiiiiit.
STILL knocking what the hell to do now?
Is starting to bum me out bad enough that I've thought if I could get even close to what i paid n put into it I'd sell it.
But that wont happen so I'm just stumped n stuck with a knocking bike until I can grenade the engine in Cali.
(Blake PLEASE unban my ip it takes FOREVER to post through a 30 proxies)
