nothin you can do to your bike will make it faster than improving the rider --

it's one of the cheapest things you can do (100 to 250 cash dollars american for a track day or class), and by far the most cost effecient

check the sponsors section of this web site for links on where to find the goods.

Daves and American Sport Bikes are my two favorite vendors.

I recently bought the HeliBar handle bars from American Sport Bike and was really impressed. It made the bike feel a lot better going into the corners and the riding posistion is more comfortable. Also make sure you have the Frame Pucks or some other frame slider.

Definitely go for the gear. Even if you aren't using it for track days (though track days are the best thing you can do) you shouldn't be without the gear anyway.

can't go wrong at the sponsors -- chek the XB board for specific gear the sponsors may or may not carry ofr other stuff/sources

I'll hush up right after I sugges that good gear is likely a better investment than mods for your bike (most track days will accept good one piece or zip together fabric riding suits, btw)

sorry man, can't help it -- seen too many folks injure themselves due to a lack of gear (me too, come to think of it ;-} )

rant done, promise

For the gear you should check eBay if your looking to save some money. I've been watching for a used leather suit for track day and some textile gear for the street. I have a nice leather jacket but it's black and get real hot in the summer. Gear should be your first investment. I've laid a bike down with T-shirt and Jeans, had a helmet on, and it's not fun taking care of road rash. I wear the Draggin Jeans with Kevlar inserts for daily riding and have heard good testomonials from people who have wrecked.

If I were going to use the bike on a track I'd seek out a shop that specializes in suspension setup & get her dialed in just right. Hell, I have no intention of going to the track but I might just go to one of these shops just as well.

From what I understand it's not worth getting. Read this thread.

Many track schools allow you to rent gear. I don't have a one-peice or zip together either, so I rent mine at the track. You must usually have your own gloves (most quality street gloves should be ok) and I would recommend having your own boots.
