I have the software. It runs on both the PC and PDA. You do need to buy an adapter PDA/serial cable to connect the PDA to the supplied cable that came with the software. The digital Technician is the HD Scan tool that is very expensive but it runs the same software. I paid $285 for the latest and greatest package.

I have the Technoresearch Tool PC/PDA, works fine. I purchased it from Dave. It will do some diagnostics and also, let you set the TPS, it has several other features as well that are interesting. It's worth the money in my opinion.

Just follow the direction in the manual, it takes about 2 minutes. Very easy to do. If you do not have a manual, I recommend getting one, It is very useful overall.

The technoresearch SW works quite well, I've reset several different bikes here, both tube frame and XB. I'm really glad this product finally came out.

We're seeing some inconsistent results with computers using USB-to-serial port adapters. Some work, others don't. Not sure why. So, if you don't already have a USB-to-serial adapter, I'd recommend getting the one that Technoresearch recommends. I'm sure there's lots out there cheaper, but cheaper doesn't help if it doesn't work. See here

Just FYI, serial to USB adapters are ALWAYS dicey at best. Always get the one that is recommended by the company selling the device you want to use, otherwise you will be making alot of trips to your local computer store.

Well, I can't answer if it does everything the Scanalyzer or Digital Technician does, because I've never used a Scanalyzer or Digital Technician.

The 02 presentation seemed completely bogus, so I talked to Sandro at Technoresearch yesterday. The actual O2 signal should be a fluctuating DC voltage reading between 0 and 1 Volt (and mostly between .4 and .6 Volt), but it currently is displaying some bogus value like long time averaged around 1900 mV. He is going to fix this. The SW as it currently sits does not present the Adaptive Fuel Value, it only resets it. This is not good, we want to know what our AFV has become. He has plans to fix this too. He is sending me one of his high end scanalyzer tools to me so I can hook up to a Buell to collect data to help improve the Buell SW.

He indicated that they are getting more reports of bad connectivity thru cheaper USB to serial converters. The radio shack one won't work, he said. Stay with the one they recommend if you have to buy one.

What I REALLY want to have in the short term is the ability to poke an AFV into the unit. Does anyone know if that functionality exists in the Scanalyzer or Digital Technician?

Dyno testing of add-on components on a Buell is always suspect. You can add free breathing accessories, but if you dyno test it right afterwards, you're running on the PRE- AFV learned value, and the plot you'll get is suspect. I guess you can run the bike on the dyno in closed loop for a while if you have a brake dyno. But it sure seems it would speed up testing if you were able to poke an assumed value in there rather than just resetting it to the default value.

Thanks Al_lighton,
My tech . that I use at the local dealer here knows his stuff and He showed me the other day all the stuff that the Dealer /Buell unit does and thats what I want and I guess the big thing with the other is it resets the tps thats cool ..However I have no plm. going to the Dealer here and for 30.00 bucks I can get my tps reset along with all the other checks So for Now I will not buy one of these units..I`ll wait until they add more features and also get the Bugs out of it etc.etc.. Thanks for the Input...

Al,
If you mean to fix the afv to a certain value, I did read about that a while back. For some test purpose they fixed it to a value of "100".

I don't know if that was with that programmable ecm or a stock/race ecm though. I don't think I had the buell at that time so I was only partially interested ; )

The Scanalyzer can only reset the AFV to 100% (at least the one I have).

Best regards

The Technoresearch SW will do the reset to 100%, or it says it does. Without the ability to READ that value, I can't confirm that it does. The test passes, but that doesn't confirm to me that the AFV has reset to 100%.

We'll get the AFV display soon. I'll talk to Sandro to see if we can get a poked AFV value rather than just a reset, but it may not be possible with the current ECMs.

Excellent point there Al, I myself would like to know that when it says it has passed it is 100% (percent) and not 96 or 94 percent would make it pass... Almost like the Feds breath test on the side of the road , Is this Dude Drunk or Will I let him PAss a little with the allowances they have for their " tester" My take is your either Drunk or Not the Same A gal wd. say I`m either Pregant or I`m Not.. LoL.. So in saying that I`ll wait to they either get it together or someone beats them to ittttt..
