Let me ask you this? Would you be willing to "Register" (cough up name, address, e-mail, model and VIN) and enter a code (found in your paper manual) to download a .pdf from the Buell website?

Another yes, yes & yes...already bought the manual...

Court...More than willing to comply to get the service manual online. Heck, don't we already do this to joining BRAG and HOG?

Henrik...Interesting comment about the Suzuki Manual. I usually take mine to a local printer and have them cut off the bound edge and drill it for me so I can put it in a binder and tab it as well.

Is much easier to use in this format and stays cleaner too.

Yes. Buell already has all that info on me anyway, between BRAG, the original warranty, and extended warranty. I would even be willing to sign an agreement not to illegally distribute bootleg electronic or paper copies.

I would love to have a good quality PDF version on the manual. I already own the hardcopy. Ideally I would run off a printed PDF copy, stick it in a 3 ring binder and keep it in the garage. A 3 ring binder version would actually stay open on the page I'm looking at!

Yes, I would not only register, but would be willing to charge $5 to a credit card to get the PDF. Especially the parts manual. It is completely reasonable to expect me to pay the $40 for the hardbound manual first, it is worth every penny, I just want a "drop on the laptop" copy.

e-Bay does not have the power or legal standing to do so. Period.

Ebay makes the rules - they can do whatever they want as far as what gets placed in their site. And they can certainly yank any items not meeting their standard. Ebay specifically prohibits pirated material. See below.

I'm sorry, you are right.

e-Bay CAN do whatever they want. They, however, have no legal standing in the process. They respond to pleas from parties of privity, they initiate nothing.

e-Bay's interest is in selling things, not in NOT selling things.

I don't think they would knowingly not act, but I know, having written them well over 100 times "informing" them, they have little interest in pursuing anyone. I'm aware that they also likely get 100,000 "so and so did this" e-mails a day.

Sounds like a job for HDI's Legal Department. A nice simple letter to E-Bay should do the trick and then follow up letters each time a violation is discovered. You know, the typical "Cease and Desist" with a "See Ya in Court" closing.

Wouldn't be too difficult for HDI to afford or support. I ran the Brand Name Protection Program for a building specialties manufacturer for a few years and it was not only fun, I had the opportunity to convert quite a few that were buying the knock-off brands to the real thing.

Silver lining in every cloud if you really think about it, eh?

I'm in for the online registry! Anyway, I'm unaware of an actual CD version of the Service Manuals outside of the dealer network using the Digital Technician. Is this a case of an unscrupulous employee (or perhaps former employee) of a dealer trying to make some side cash at the expense of us all?

I'd pop for both the printed and the download/CD version. Download would be fine actually.

Technically it shouldn't be too much of a deal to give the printed version an interactive makeover in .pdf format.
