Anybody have any experience with the F.A.S.T. Intake System? How is the fit & finish? Does it work? If it does work where can you get it other than Hillbilly Motors in Germany?

Ej,

There was a intake test off last year (by Englishman from this board)and the FAST system won. Gain a couple HP's smooth power curve and everything (you can check knowledge vault and see his recordings) Iron Machine use to carry it but it is no longer on their site. I am sure you can get a hold of Cory from there and I am sure he can hook get it for you. There have been a few people here that have made their own thermal blankets, I don't remember what they did about the stack. The cost for the system was like $320.00ish. Hope this help.

Hey Guys,

Thanks for the info and link to the thread. I think the kit includes the TFI unit. I was really only interested in the air filter and heat blanket. I have the race ECM and Drummer. I also have the American Sport Bike air box eliminator. It all works fine but I'm not totally thrilled on the sealing capabilities of the air cleaner lid. I'm sure I could make up my own insulating blanket but a commercially prepared one is always nice.
I'm not sure if you could run the air cleaner without the TFI or not. I would think you can with the race ECM but I don't know that for sure.

Ejii,

I use waterproof grease on the air filter lip to ensure a good seal on my modified airbox lid. Al's look like they would seal even better because they have a wider lip. This is normal practice in off-road and mx or you risk getting some grit past the filter and seizing.

Agreed. I also use grease on the air filter edge both top and bottom. I'm sure it's just fine, forever. I was just looking for something a little more positive. I have a CityX so anything under the blue plastic looks cool. I will probably end up doing nothing but leaving it alone...but that's no fun!

I use a FAST kit on my XB9R. So far as I know it comes with the blanket, new velocity stack and filter. You have to re-route the breather-hoses into a filter or catch-can. You leave the air temp sensor under the blanket which, incidentally, is well-made and an easy-fit. The most important bit of the fit is the need to run the motor at above 3500 revs for at least 5 minutes to allow the FI to attempt an adjustment. I use a PC111 and other mods so I can't comment on an otherwise standard bike but Others I know have been happy.

OK, here's a question... IF Hillybilly Motors IS a sponsor (which they are) and they have on their website a USA authorized dealership (Ironmachine) Is it wrong to tell someone where to get the Hillbilly Motor stuff? I have checked out Trojan Horse and could not find it.

At least they sponsor the site.

Sorry for stepping on your toes... I was just trying to help out another bueller on where I have found the system he is looking into. I am in no way trying to take away from the sponsors on this site!

I could not find the F.A.S.T. kit on either the Trojan Horse or the Ironmachine sites. For those of you that have the kit, where did you get it?
I don't mind ordering from Germany, I've done it a bunch for KTM Duke stuff but I rather get it in the U.S. just because.

I had one on order from Ironmachine earlier this year and apparently they were having some problems obtaining them from HB. Don't know what the problem was, but I received a refund and apology from Ironmachine.

I've since installed Al's American Sport Bike airbox cover and applied some heatshielding to the bottom of my airbox. I'm pretty happy with the way my SX runs with this set up.

I have a home made thermal blanket under the stock air box base, should I have put the O2 sensor under the blanket? ie, near the top of the cylinder heads.

I dont know about the FAST system, I have seen it online, but I know someone who tested stock airbox, stock air box w/ no filter and No air box(just base plate)on a dyno. Needless to say in that order it was an increase of 3HP(no Air filter) then 2HP (Just Base)with each change.

I have set up my XB9R with stock Airbox, XB12 lid, Homemade Air screen(oiled element)No filter. In the CCS rule book LW Supersport requires the use of stock air box. No restrictions for Thunderbike. I may be sacrificing @ 2HP but no worries of dirt ruining my weekend.
