Whats everyones thoughts on Pilot Powers vs. diablo/diablo corsa?? I need new tires and cant decide between the two. I plan on doing a few track days this year but most of the time riding on the street. I have a XB9R. | ||

You can't go wrong with the Pirelli's. I would think the Corsa's are overkill for street use. The regular Diablo's will do just fine for an occasional track day. | ||

I ran the Pirelli (Diablo Corsa) up til I needed slicks on the racebike because I was sliding too much. I know that Sportbike Track Time is now a Michelin dealer and I'd bet I'll hear before too long how their instructors feel about the tires. I have heard from one of their staff that on the track doing instruction - when they are running hot and cold and not really able to keep the heat in the tires, the Pirelli do a little better. The Michelins fall off faster when they cool down. | ||

I just put a set of diablo corsa's on. Got about 250 miles on them. It's hard to find a place to ride where I can really check em out, like you can at the track. @ this time, you can see very little wear. Sure to get more miles out of them, compared to the super corsa's. I've always ran Pirelli's. Used to be EVO dragons. So far,I think they are a good street, track tire. | ||

I put a new rear on (mich pilot power) 1100 miles ago. I LOVE EM!! The tread goes all the way to the edge. The little mich. guy and arrow on the sides are now gone. Warm up time is very fast. I do 1 slow run on my favorite hill & curves (about 1/2 mile ) and the tires are ready for more. Aaron  | ||

I was talking to Todd Clagett last night. Retired from AMA last year, due to a really bad wreck. He swears by Dunlops on the track, and has some take offs he said he'd give away. | ||

Here in Hawaii the rear pilot power ran $206 mounted.Ya I know that's a bit high, but everything in Hawaii is. If you can wait (I picked up a nail so I couldn't) you can get them off of e-bay for like $125 with shipping. Aaron | ||

I've heard of the pilot road, pilot sport and pilot race. Where does the pilot powers fit in. Aaron So I guess not much a different's in price, Compared to diablo corsa's. | ||

As far as I know(some one help me out) the Pilot Powers are pretty new. I guess they are along the lines of the corsa vs. reg. diablos. Price is close between all of them so I guess it comes to personal pref. Me I'm really impressed with the PP. Aaron | ||

The Corsas are great tires for the track but dont handle wet very well & wont wear as well as the standard Diablos. Diablos will as mentioned earlier work great for your average track day, handle wet roads perfectly & still get decent mileage out of them. I have gotten over 4000 miles out my rear & thats with a few track days, lots of wheelies, burnouts, high speed runs etc. I have nothing but good things to say about the standard Diablos. | ||

Corsas are not so good on the road. I have a pair of Pilot Power and they are a revelation after D207s. No stand-up when trail braking, no will-it-won't-it as you turn in and no unpredictable slides. The biggest compliment is you just forget about 'em and ride ! | ||

No, Diablo Corsas are awesome on the road and still wear a bit better than M1's, which means better yet than 207's. The standard Diablo is certainly going to wear better though and is more like an M1 Metzler (maybe slightly more street oriented). Granted the Diablo Corsa is rated as a 70% trackday tire by Pirelli. The Pirelli rep was selling pairs at the MST trackday at Streets of Willow on 4/19 for 250.00. I was kind of bummed I bought mine before I drove out (even at at 20% off)! Hopefully they will continue to support the MTC days at both Willow tracks. | ||

On any sunday, ya'll can come down to ortega and I'll show you how well the supercorsas work, never paid more than $100 per set, sometimes way less and always brilliant how they work, I have a few sets tucked away for summer! | ||

Hmmm... I've always been a little shy when it comes to race take-offs, mostly due to my ignorance on how to tell if a tire is "cooked" or had too many heat cycles. I get the impression some turn a bluish color. Also, how about warm-up on race tires when used on the street? Does it take more time? And what about tire pressures needed to get them warm-30 psi?? xbolt12 | ||

I have pilot powers and im lovin them. rode about 500 miles on them so far and they are still looking and feeling really good. I got my pilot powers for 200$ front and rear. And to answer a question asked before the pilot powers are the new pilot sports. they are just more expensive right now because they are new. I highly recommend these tires. they work fine for aggressive street riding. im not sure about track days yet, but the way they feel right now i dont think there would be any problems on a track. not to stray from the initial topic(too much) is it possible to mount a 190 on the rear? Just curious. would that have any effect(good/bad)? | ||

I'm on my second set of P. Corsas. I friggin' love these tires and would highly recommend them to anyone on any bike. Confidence inspiring tires in the twisties, they are. On another note, I been running Michelen Pilot Sports on the M3 for almost two years now I think they make a good tire. However, I recently found out they are owned by a bunch of French bastards.... I've had a set of Diablo's and Corsa's. Got 10,000 miles out of my first set of Corsa's. Threw on the Diablos and was kind of disappointed. Only got 8,000 miles out of those and they felt like rocks. Went back to the Corsas. 7,000 miles on this set. Think the Corsa's warm up faster. Ride only on the street. |
