Hey everyone,

What is the deal with the "spike" that juts out of the rider footpegs on the '05 xb12r? I find it kind of annoying. It seems to get caught on my pant legs and screws me up on take off sometimes. Does anyone else experience this? What's the purpose of that design?

I take it you mean the hero blob?
It is so you know when you have it banked over enough in the corner and it touches the road you know not to go any further.

They are threaded so you can simply take them off if you want.

Take em off - if you are doing ANY cornering, they'll come into contact with the pavement TOO early. Even if your boot and pegs drag, it's not gonna throw you off the bike. You don't need the distraction.

My vote is ditch them! Mine were threaded in but if they weren't I'd get a saw.

The lawyers probably made all the manufacturers put them on - they're on all the new sportbikes.

me I like the fact they are there. I have fun grinding them when I ride. I also use them as a learning tool. If they aren't sparking then I need to get tighter and lower. But to each his own.
