has anyone changed their flasher so the lights will blink properly with leds

what flasher did you get and where

model#

You'll need a load equalizer to get them to flash properly.

I bought one that I haven't tested yet, but if it works like it's supposed to, you won't have to mess around with load equalizers and such. When I say I haven't tested it I mean I haven't put any LEDs in for turn signals yet. Haven't found any bright enough. I did install it on my bike and it works fine with regular bulbs.

did you replace your flasher relay with this unit or did you add this somehow?

Replaced. The plug that plugs into the factory flasher relay has the wires in a different order than the electronic flasher, so I used a jewelry screwdriver to remove the wires/blade connectors from the plug and hooked them up to the new relay. I haven't cut any wires, and could easily return the bike to the stock setup in about 2 minutes.
