Hallo everyone,

Well my bike is being fitted with the Jardine RT1
as we speak. I have heard some of you guys say that riding the bike between 2500 to 3000 rpm is kinda lugging it. What do you guys consider normal riding rpms to be? My '86 gixxer did not even come alive until 6k rpm so I'm not sure what the power band on these bikes is and what is normal just scooting around engine speed. Thanks for your input all.

Ride it, pay attention to it, and you will know.

Redtail that is more in reference to the XB9 engines. The 12's have no problems in that range at all.

you can cruise in that range, but there's not much poop until 3000+

lugging it? if it wont pull at 2500 rpm then you need to loose some weight. they are certainly SMOOTHER above 3000, but you are not lugging a 74 cubic inch motor with a 3-13/16 stroke by expecting it to pull from 2500 rpm. that is more stroke than a 427 chevy big block. think about that for a minute. 3.8125 inch stroke.

i Flog a 1458cc sportster, with a 4-5/16 stroke. the bike weighs 480 pounds with a full tank, and i regularly slap the 7000 rpm limiter. it will pull 2nd gear roll on wheelies. when i really need to scare myself, i put the 2-1/16 inch S&S alcohol carb on. the two big problems with alcohol are limited fuel range, gets about 10 mpg, and traction. with street tires it is hard to hook up in the first 3 gears.

Redtail,

I agree. The Jardine clearly looses power and torque in that RPM range. I typically don't cruise below about 3k and in the twisties try to keep it closer to 4k when I want fast acceleration upon hitting the gas.

Xbolt12 are you running the race ECM or the stock ECM? The two people I know with Jardines on their 12's both run the stock ECM and have no issues with power from 2500 up.

Stock ECM. It just feels weeker than before in that range. Mostly it seems like cutting the airbox away did most of the weakening, although it really added power beyond that range from where I sit.
