I'm in the market for a new helmet too, The Vemar looks sweet, but I'd never buy a helmet without trying it on first.

Court, wasn't it Erik who said something to the effect of: "If Court asks you to ride to lunch, ask him how far"?

LOL, the trouble with us old farts is that we don't know when to give up. I know I'm not ready for a long time... God willing!

Amen, brother!!

At 48, I'm having more fun now than I ever did at 28, mostly bacause I can afford it now!!

I always laugh when my contemporaries talk about all their plans for retirement, too...

I'm doin' it NOW!!

I turn 50 4/14. I've been having parties* for a month or so as part of my Gala 50th Birthday Celebration.

If I'm *burrrrp* not careful, I might not make 50.

Bob

* Parties my butt. Some of these "parties" were textbook binges =)

You don't stop riding because you're getting old.

You're getting old because you stop riding.

>>>"If Court asks you to ride to lunch, ask him how far"?

Close, I think he said "ask where". It was on a gorgeous morning out back of the old Buell factory. Henry Duga, Gary Valine, Erik, Fran Crane and I were standing there.

Fran had mentioned something about the time she road from San Francisco to Louisiana for lunch, eaten and ridden staight back.

Erik said something to the effect that "if either one of these two ask you to lunch, ask where?"

I have picutres of Fran and Vickie, when we were in Chicago some years ago, sitting on my desk. I used to ride quite a bit, a couple thousand miles a week sometimes.

Fran, for those of you who do not know her, was a living legend of motorcycling and logged her miles in 7 figures.

She was an expert racer and I met her while a student at a Reg Pridmore C.L.A.S.S. session.

Fran had won about every long distance motorcycle event ever conducted and consumed lots of room in the Guiness Book of Records for things like s"shortest NYC to SF time" and "least time to ride a motorcycle in all 6 states".

We'll talk more about her someday for some of the new folks. We lost her tragically in a freak accident (small motorcycle accidnet followed by tragic hospital blunder) several years ago.

Dave: If you get an itch to ride to the City, this Sunday would be a good day to arrive!

: )

Not many racers I know are card-carrying AARP members. I haven't gotten them to sponsor me and they (politely) told me in a letter that they'd NOT be interested in doing an article BECAUSE there's a perception in the public's mind that there are risks associated with motorcycle road racing!

Da NOIVE o dem AARP bastiges!!

look....another one of my posts went to archives...yes my neck was messed up for 2 days because my muscles were angry with me..Probably has something to do with working 18 hr days, driving all over ny for work, getting home from a 50+hr work week and jumping on the bike for a cruise when its 40 degrees out. I'm not scared of the cold, i work outside a lot in the winter, its just for some odd reason my neck locked up and the doctor told me it was becasue of the cold. I don't know what happened but i'm all better and ready for the ride on Sunday. We'll tell everyone who can't make it what happened...it will be an amazing day
