First off howdy all,y'all have an outstanding community here (heavily influenced my choice of a Buell.)
now the question anyone thrown bar ends on a cityx?
how much do you have to hack the handguards? I am hoping someones found a nice neat installation for em keeping the handguards whole.
My basic problem is at 6'2" 250 i have to use a hell of alot of body english to check 6,seems to me bar end mirrors would help this out but the handguards(which i really like on those cold days) really seem to be in the way on installing them

Check out some of these mirrors: http://www.saeng.com/scanners.htm.
I'm considering the self stick mounts. Stick them right on the front of the hand guards. No messing around with bar end mirrors. Currently I use Bug Eye helmet mirrors:
http://www.bugeyes.com/.
They work great as well. They are also lighter and cheaper than anything out there.

Thanks,I reckon i will have to give the bugeyes a try.
BTW... on other boards i keep seeing folks bitchin bout the ergo's on the XB's I suspect they never actually rode one,I am a fairly good sized person and it's right on,only mod i had to do was rotate the clutch a tad down to keep my arm lined up

You'll want to check out my website at http://mysite.verizon.net/cyergey/buell_mods_mirrors.html

I love my bar end mirrors, and it is not too much work. The best part is that the cost of the project was about $30.00 instead of $80+ for other brands.

Pa_xb9sx Nice job on the mirrors! I live in So. Cal. where lane splitting is legal...Yikes! But I do it daily. It's not uncommon for handlebars, mirrors and fairings to contact car mirrors and other body parts...Yikes again. When I took off the stock XB mirrors and used the Bug Eyes the bike became the best lane splitter I have ever owned!
I'm not sure if lane splitting is legal anywhere else.

xb9sx high seating position for better visibility ahead in trafic, handguards for them mirror swipes,
only 32 " wide, low end torque to get out fast, 40mpg
(ok i hammer it) Seems to me lane splitting is exactly what it's designed for. Bad Web helped me decide on a Buell the specs of the xb9sx gave me the perfect excuse to afford my lil commuter special
