Isn't there an easier way to get a date on the
mainland? Besides, don't they make medicine for
that sort of thing now?

; )

Buhahahaha!

you know not what you speak Grasshopper...the Guava syrup around here is that organic crap that totally sucks, and if you take a bottle of 1800, drop in 3-4 Li Hing Mui plums and let set for about 2 weeks...awe damn my mouth is watering just thinking about it

B&B you can get Li Hing Mui(licorice flavored) in the southbay? I haven't been able to track down anything but Soloditos (salt plums) since getting to the Mainland...

Shawn, I appreciate it...If you can figure out how to send me Sam Choy in a box that would be cool to; ) Man I totally miss the food in Hawaii. Some of it I make myself, some I have been able to get shipped but the rest...I can't make Poke cause I can't get the Ala'i salt or the shoyu and soy sauce just doesn't work, I do make my own chili pepper water though...

The wife's 1/4 Filipina and her family loves these
things. They brought some back from Hawaii; when
we were there last, in the Ala Moana mall there was a store with nothing but cured/pickled Chinese
fruits. They picked up a bunch there.

The kids and I call it "pucker pickles." Thank
goodness she's only got a few of each left.

Chinatown is also a good source -- I'll pluck
some for you if I find 'em.

Wycked, I thought I might be the only haole on the mainland that can stand Li Hing Mui! I have been able to find it in the grocery in Chinatown here in Houston. Not the Yick Lung brand I remember from my youth in Honolulu, but good stuff anyway.

Hey RT, do you drink Sambuca? Sucking on a Li Hing Mui is like sucking on a shot of Sambuca : )

Try Camellia Seed Shop, Queen Kaahumanu Centre, Kahului, HI 96732 (808) 877-5714. They've got everything, and they'll mail to the mainland.

My wife (haole, but fifth generation Hawaiian) stocks up whenever we're there.
