I was wondering since my bike seems to be running ok with the D&D without Ecm or air filter, I called the factory to see if ECM is needed and he recommended I have my a/f ratio checked to see if it is running to lean, if not he said I should be fine. So has anybody already done this on an XB12S? If so was it running TOO lean?
Thanks,
Rob

Rob, you need to have your individual bike checked. Someone elses dyno run is just a ballpark figure for your bike. You may have a engine that broke in to tighter tolerences then the guy who's dyno your comparing so your bike might be running better then his causing you to be lean where he isn't. He may have not used enough oil on his K&N making him run lean where you aren't. Every bike will handle upgrades slighly different then everyone elses bike so its importantt to have your bike checked just to be safe.

The ECM on most any XB is going to maintain a ratio around 13.7:1. You can use that as a baseline if you get yours checked.

Now, I wonder just if we all had one of these units, all the guess work or alot of it anyways wd. be taken out of the Tfi`s and power commanders...?? This will read and log all air/ fuel ratios on any motorvechile that runs on unleaded fuel..! What do you all think???

If I had the money Hogs I would either buy that or the one from Daytona Twintec since it also does the realtime data logging. Combine it with a digital video camera so you can compare the run as it looks on the software with what you were actually doing (uphill downhill, passing, etc etc etc) at each point of the graph.

Whats the one from Daytona Twintec all about ?Wd. you have a web site for them,Yeah the camera wd. be a neat thing as well..:-))
So If we had one of these would that Be the answer, IF we had a TFi or PCommander that is, then whatever Mods one did, You wd. be able to dial the sucker in as long as we had to add fuel that is,and no need for a dyno only for torque and Horsepower outputs curves etc.etc...

Daytona TwinTec WEGO AFR meter system

As far as being able to adjust for your AFR it would be perfect, but using it with a dyno will allow you to see how the engine responds to the changes so you can get the best power at each point without hurting your engine.
