hmmm, my opinion?

i like it a bunch, at least in the pics i've seen, am assuming i'd like it even more in the flesh.

oughta be a terror on the BattleTrax circuit, what with it's stubby little wheelbase.

haven't gotten used to the fairing at all yet. i'm not bothered by the twin PIAA-clones, but the lower side-lines on the fairing don't seem right. but, maybe i'd change my tune looking at one in 3-D.

great to see Ice White Pearl and shiny rims in some of the shots i've seen, reminds me of a certain S2 i used to ride.........

(and if anybody from BMC ever decides this thing should roll off the line in GAG (gross Amazon Green) paint with GAG (gawd awful gold) wheels, well, they oughta hafta do hard time in Newark, NJ for a coupla years.)

hope the thing is oil-tight and doesn't shed parts.

how'd it feel, the one you were sitting all over in the pics above?

XOXOXO, FB

First rate. I was really surprised at how well I fit on such a small bike. The ergonomics were like they were made for me. Very similar to how I have my M2 set up with the clipons and rearsets. I am anxious to take one for a test ride.

Yegads....that's a bit extreme.

Who's Tony Bergen?

And then of course there's Bergen County, home of the mighty-mighty Cadets of Bergen County, multi-time Drum Corp world champions.

The firebolt fit me really nice. Very forward positioning. I sometimes felt like I had to look BACK to see the instruments. (slight exaggeration) The only ergonomic anomaly was that my right foot kept getting hung up on something. Didn't keep me from being able to use the brake but it was disconcerting. I suspect something was bent during a drop. These were all demo bikes, ya know...

The thing that really impressed me about that bike was that it was so unintimidating. Strong, linear feeling powerband. Nimble but not twitchy. Signals go straight from brain to contact patch. Sometimes I wondered if there was even a bike under me or not. (this from a very novice rider, mind you) At the same time, I had this odd feeling of respect for the machine right from the get go. Can't describe it. To think I almost didn't take my riding garb to Long Beach.

It took me some time to start feeling like the Firebolt WASN'T ugly. After a few magazine photos, it started to look tolerable. Well, the bike looks like a million bucks in person. I was told by some dealer folk that pictures somehow don't do the bike justice. They weren't lying.

It's got the angry eyes. It LOOKS like it's ready to explode 'cause someone just packed it too tight. Really neat styling. At least I think so.

Ummm.... Firebolt.....

Rocket -

Grey Market is sold here all the time, in all kinds of product. It is usually countered by not having a manufacturers warranty, and the manufacturer won't fix it if it needs repairs. I have been to the UK many times and have seen the prices of Levi's jeans, no wonder they fought to protect it, in some cases, they price Levis at over 4 times the cost in Canada or the US!!! I've seen Levi's that sell in the UK for 80 quid, that sell over here in Canada for $45. When you do the math, I guess if I was Levi's I would fight for it too.

............... and nicely put too Saro.

The Setta We have a difference here with Euro law. Manufacturers have to comply with uniform regulations, no matter what Euro Union country it's sold in, but I really don't know how this affects products manufactured outside of the E.U with regards to warranty etc.

Some interesting news from Tat of American Sport Bike.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Aren't we Californians Lucky?

Those of us who were lucky enough to attend the Long Beach IMS Show were quite impressed with the demo ride that Buell put on. Not only were we impressed with the ride, but also the bike itself. I just received a post card in the mail today that I thought would have some merit for potential XB9R owners. It reads as follows:

"Hey Tat,
You made history. That's right, you participated in the first consumer demo ride of the new Firebolt XB9R. Judging by the grin we saw under your helmet, you really enjoyed the ride.
We hope you enjoyed the Buell party at the Long Beach IMS show. Sunshine, free demo rides, music, T-shirts-it was great. Like us, you must be one of the twisted few who are addicted to the experience of riding free-breathing naked American Sport motorcycles. Stop by and get an extended warranty if you purchase before Feb. 28. Ask us for complete details. Or come on in and talk to us about the new Firebolt. It's coming in spring and we can't wait!
See you in the twisties,
(Your local dealer)"

We weren't exactly sure who this offer applies to, but it is worth checking out. So visit your favorite Buell dealer to find out more!!

Questions:
1: Is that "before" Feb. 28, 2002 or before Feb. 28, 2003?

2: Or is that implying a "free" extended warranty for presale bikes (bought before actual delivery)?

Just curious.

Mike: I take it as meaning before February 28, 2002. Not sure if it is a BMC initiative or just Tat's local dealer getting proactive. I'm hoping the former.

I'm now wondering if it's maybe an early inventory reduction plan to make room for new models forthcoming.

I read an article in "American Iron" today. It's a total Harley mag. I've never seen a sport bike of ANY kind in it. They did a write up on the Firebolt and as always, it said the same good stuff...The thing that DID get my attention was at the end of the article. They said they have heard rumors of a 1200cc / 125 hp motor for a future model.

Anyone have anything on this? I mean, if it's in print, it HAS to be true! right?
