OK...so today i decided i was going to go see what i can do at the local Harley dealership. They have a total of 3 lightnings (2 03 XB9S and one new 05 XB9SX) I really want to get the XB9SX. Well the 2 03's with old rubber (2 yrs. of tried up dunlop=no good) are 7995. The 05 is 8695. Not negotiable with any of them. So im thinking ok lets see what we can do with the 05. Well then they go to tell me..."Oh we added about $1200 of carbon fiber stuff on the bike...blah blah, it looks cool yada yada" Well thats great but i just want the stock bike, and i don't want to pay MSRP either. I feel i should get a better deal or at least a little slack. None at all. then i try to see if they can give me a deal on like if i buy some gear or anything.

Nope not happening...but at the same time "oh we want your sale, if everything goes through you can sign today...im like hmmm i think there is better deals out there.

So for a new XB9SX it was a total of like 11800 dollars. With like 700 dollars worth of gear. They would not cut me one bit of slack. So i come home, look around at other dealers, call one up in michigan like 45 min. away. They have an 05 XB9SX for 8299 with nothing done to it and for as long as my warrenty is i get 15% off anything for my bike or any gear or whatever. So i will definetly be checking them out. Oh and i asked my local dealer about the "Free Fuel for a year" promotion. They said that it was from last year and that buell wasn't doing it anymore. I said...well its on your website saying it is so someone obviously isn't right.

Does anyone know if that promotion is still good? I'd really like to get a Buell but my local dealer is kind of being a pain. Oh well guess its nice to have like 7 dealers within a 100 mile radius.

Just had to rant a bit and see what y'all got for deals or what you guys got when you bought your new bike if anything (buy way of discounts or anything)

DaveS not sure if you have any input or prices but if you do let me know. I would have to get a bike shipped though to me.

Thanks, and thanks to the people who are responding to my other "newbie" questions/threads

i was in Columbus Indiana HD/Buell about 2 weeks ago. They still had a yellow 03 XB9S for $6999. This is where I bought mine and went out the door for $7414 after tax.

There is about $1000.00 between MSRP and invoice on the City X. At least that's what one dealer who a friend of mine worked with told me. Problem was they where two hours away and I wanted to deal with someone local.

I bought mine from Mancuso in Houston for MSRP but got a $300.00 gift certificate, free delivery at home (I live one hour away) and the first service free. I might have been able to do better by being an a$$ but thought that this deal was fair to everyone. I recall Buell had some kind of a promotion last Fall so I got that too.

Generally motorcycles are sold at MSRP, for Christmas one year I wanted to buy my wife a little Yamaha scooter to take to the grocery store and the refused to deal at all, even on a cash basis.

Good luck!

as a buyer, it's your job to find the best deal, which is made up of many things, including price . . .

those that insist on knowing the dealer's cost, and markup and like that make me chuckle -- imagine their reaction of the dealer asked to see a recent paycheck stub, and varied the price due to that . . . .. .

get yer best "deal," for sure (price, svc, extras, postivie attention and attitude from the dealer, et al) . . .. . . . .

Actually if you finance it they do want to see a pay stub, and with interest they do vary the price. I do agree, though, it is the buyers responsibility to find the best deal. However, it is the dealers responsibility not to rip you off, and provide service after the sale (that is what brings back repeat customers).

Bomber I had a dealer do that with me when I bought my Yamaha Zuma in Hawaii, he figured out how much I could pay in 6 months and not be destitute and that was the price he sold it to me for. Man I miss that Zuma for just running around on...

ywah, I also have had dealers work hard to help me -- both on picking the right bike AND on the financing end

that wasn't what I was trying to say . . . . more along the lines of let a dealer make his "best" deal, and then take it or don't . . .. . ..

not being real clear lately -- must be spring, yes?
