A friend of mine has a 2003 XB9S with the race kit. He bought it when the finish was a dull gray, not the shiny coating. The muffler looks pretty bad, stained, very dirty, maybe even rusty. Not to say this guy cleans his bike often, but it seems pretty bad. What's a good suggestion for him? Powdercoat black so it always looks okay, copy the coating on the current race mufflers? Thanks for any help. Love the stainless muffler on my S3T, always looks good. | ||

Mine rusted and stained pretty fast. I had the same one you're talking about. Gave it to a friend of mine. He just painted it with BBQ black. | ||

I had mine coated by Jet Hot Coatings for $75 + shipping. I looks great! | ||

What does the factory use on those? It's almost like a textured paint isn't it? If that's the case I'd think he'll have to scrub it with a coarse brush or something like that to get the dirt out of the holes. As far as keeping it that way I don't really know. | ||

If it's one of the old style like mine, it'll just scrub off the coating. |
