Scorpion EXO-700 or Icon Mainframe? These are the two I'm leaning tword. I need something QUIET. Wind noise and my Jardine give me a freakin headache if I'm on the Interstate for more than 25 min.
Currently using a cheap old HJC CS-12.

Just bought the Scorpion Warhawk. Considered many others first. Very pleased. Very comfortable, good ventilation. Everything I have read about them seems to be true. Had to mail order, since few suppliers exist yet. Great deal for $130. Get some good ear plugs to go with the Jardine.

I listen to my tunes thru earbuds, can't use earplugs...

"I need something QUIET. Wind noise and my Jardine give me a freakin headache"

I did a lot of research before buying my Shoei RF-1000. It's MUCH quieter than many others. Significantly less wind noise which I found to be more prevalent in lower priced helmets.

Both Shoei and Arai seem to be considerably quieter.

Best thing I've done so far is buy a pair of custom earplugs, these really reduce (if not eliminate) loud exhaust and wind noise.

They are a pain to keep putting in and out around town but I always use them on the interstate or longer trips.

Best choice you could make is a shoei. there is nothing to think about.

Just out of curiosity, who makes the current Buell helmets?

I've got an Icon mainfraime helmet in flat black "Rubbatone" Great fitting, not too loud & stealthy looking. Got lots of compliments on it. reasonably priced to boot! ($200.00)

I think HJC still makes the Buell labeled lids.
They are good helmets, but tack on the additional dollars for brand labeling.

I'm running the Scorpion EXO helmet. Darn good helmet. Great ventilation and the anti-fog shield is a real bonus for those cold morning rides to work or play. The real stroke is the price, but there is a bit more wind noise.

Suggestions: Ear plugs, or if you like to listen to music they do have noise canceling systems out there. Not sure of the brand, price, or comfort level with your helmet, but it's a place to start.

I have 2 KBC VR1's and like them very much. Nice liner and its fully removeable/washable.

The new VR2 and VR3 look pretty nice...

The 2004/2005 Buell branded helmets are KBC VR-1s and FFRs.

I second Tpoppa as I have been impressed with the VR-1s I have purchased. At a street price of $170, I'm not heart broken over the damage that a high desert spring and summer do to a helmet. Typical high desert conditions are nasty with UV at roughly 4000', 100 to 110+ degree summer temps, and 35 to 55 mile an hour spring winds carrying desert sand. The removable liner is nice and a replacement can be ordered from any dealer that deals with Tucker Rocky. The VR-1 is as quiet as my old Shoei X-1 and lighter and quieter than my GRV Lawson replica(R.I.P). It was just heart rending to watch what the environment here did to those helmets given what I paid for them.

A friend just bought a VR-2 and it is pretty nice and a tad bit quieter as it ha been reshaped slightly from the VR-1.

I can't say anything bad about my KBC Wolf. It more then kept me from having a concussion after 3 severe impacts at 3 different spots when I hit the asphault 2 weekends ago. The venting is very much summer oriented so it tends to be a bit loud, even with earplugs, but it was comfortable and earned its right to rest in peace on my mantel : )

I have the HJC SYMAX in all black. Great helmet. It even comes with extra padding for the ears that really cuts the noise down. Paid $240 for it here in Hawaii(everything cost more here).
here's a link to check it out if you want.

I had the buell redline helmet. Wasnt really a fan. Vents didnt seem to do anything, visor had a habit of flipping up when glancing back on the highway. Just got an Arai Quantum 2 and love it. It seems lighter, more aerodynamic, and the vents work 10 times better, oh and the sheild locks down so no flipping up unwanted
