Yup. Average is between 20-25k. Lost my XB stator at 15,000, HD at 35,000.

I have to say no.

I have heard of 3 or 4 people with a bad stator. There are more I'm sure but still nothing to be concerned about considering how many XB's do NOT have a stator going bad.

The charging system is a full loss charging system, so the stator should be putting out max power all the time.

If the stator is really dead again, it was either a bad part from the factory, or was damaged on installation. Both of which are very possible.

A stator is made up of enameled (for insulation) wire wrapped around a ferrous steel core. The wires need to touch to be wound this way, but have to be insulated, otherwise they short out (thus the stink).

If the enamel is nicked during manufacturer or installation, or the wires going to the stator are worn or cut and shorting out, it will fail in short order, starting small but heating up and doing more damage.

Was this Eastgate?

Well the XB is heading in to the shop to get a new stator and hopefully it is fixed. But when i get it back I will fully inspect all wires going to the stator.
Thanks Bill

Ok it was'nt the stator , it was the voltage regulator. Hopefully it is a done deal and I can get back to racking up the miles on the XB.
Thanks bill for the input and I will be going over all the wiring to make sure that nothing is pinched or nicked. Thanks again
Joe
