I just replied to a thread about helmet locks and got curious about what kind of helmets everyone has. Here is mine. I spent about $500 on it. Worth every penny!

After crash-testing my Arai in my 4th race in February - I'm convinced that I'd have been killed if I was wearing one of those plastic jobbies - I figured that in one high-side crash, hitting the ground head-first tumbling at about 80mph followed by the bike tumbling and the side-case landing on my head - not to mention having the helmet hit by the Ducati following me in the turn (rubber tire marks to prove it) - that I can STRONGLY recommend Arai. Visualize dropping a 400 pound weight on your helmet while you're lying on the ground then run into it at 60-70mph and you'll get the picture.

One crash, 3 events!! That crash is about all ANYBODY could ask of a helmet!! - hard impact followed by a crushing impact followed by getting hit by the guy behind me.

Arai is what I've bought to replace the one just "retired" last month

I'd add that having the best helmet you can buy is like having a parachute: If you NEED it and don't have it, you'll never need one again.

I have 2 KBC VR1's. Excellent helmet, especially when you consider the price.

The new VR2 and VR3 look to be even better.

Have lots of helmets, but I use my full face HJC most of the time...all the time on the Buell and another brand crotch rocket.

My two cents...I think the important thing is get a quality helmet that fits you...read that as comfortable. I really need to get a new full-face, but the one I have feels so good! I try on a number of helmets at the dealer/vendor before I buy one. I don't like ordering clothes/shoes without trying them on...same with my helmet(s).

HJC AC-11 I've crashed tested one in the past. Saved my life due to how I crashed. I slide on the front of the helmet.

Guess mine couldn't be more boring. Plain old black to go with my black bike. It's one of the modular helmets so the whole front lifts up. Makes taking it on and off very easy as well as getting gas, etc.

Icon mainframe. Great helmet. Fits nicely and is really quiet. Blue to match my bike (although it doesn't really match).

I have a KBC VR-1 as well. Excellent helmet IMO. It's not exactly quiet but it's made using the same process as a Shoei/Arai etc. It doesn't wobble as much at high speeds as other helmets and the shape helps to lift your head a bit.

I think they could put better vents on it (not flow, but noise from the vents at high speed... Sounds like a jet is following you around). Very comfortable IMO.

One or two of the newer Buell hemets is a VR-1.
