Took off the headlight, brakelight, turn signals, passenger pegs, mirrors, and license plate. Loaded her on the trailer with too many straps, 5 (backup) gallons of super unleaded, tools, air tank, water, and all my leathers. Slept, woke, drove 2 hours, unloaded, preped bike, got nervous. Drilled all info and training possible out of the guy that set up the track day. (getting excited) At this point I'm realizing everyone seeing me as an outsider, the odd ball. They thinking "this guy is just gonna get in my way".
I hear "class C please group at start grid" over the loudspeaker.
Walk over to my truck to grab the helmet and gloves while still getting accustomed to my new $250 (drain my wallet) leather knee puck race pants. Swing the leg over, while turning on the MP3 player, the engine rumble starts at the same time my hard rock tunes start under my helmet "ohhhhh yeeeaaaahhhhh". Click into first as I notice everyone eyeing the vibes from my v twin. Now I'm feeling better as I roll out to the grid with a grin. The ref walks around us for a quick lookover,.... ... ..... GO! I love it when its tough to keep the front tire down. Following the "guy" to get warmed up to the track, gotta know those turns. After a few laps (oh crap), the "guy" exits the track. We're FREE! Don't even have time to look at the speedo, engine screeeamin, eyes wide, heart pounding, huge smile, LOVIN this!
Well, to sum up the rest, out of the whole day of 20 min sesions, I was only passed twice and that was on the straights by the 1000's. No one could catch me on the turns. Drug the pegs and shreaded just the edges of the tires. Had a great smiling, sweaty, tire shreading day. Learned how far I can push this bike with full confidence.

Great bike, great day.

Nothing like the after-the-track-day feeling! Where did you do the track day at?

Thanks Wheels
It's been four years since I've been on the track.
You made me remember how heart pumping it was!
Wish I could have been there with ya.

No Problem Raceway in Belle Rose Louisiana.
I'm waiting for the pics via Email. It was a monday so I couldn't get anyone to come with me. Found some others that said they will send me some pics and vids. Stock tires, but need a new set now. I'm thinkin Dunlop D208GP.

I totally agree with Norrisperformance!!

Just reading about your track day experience put that crazy grin on my face, also!!

I only got to go to one last summer and hope to get at least two in this summer. I used stock tires on my XB12R set at 30lbs. and they stuck like glue!!

Glad to hear you had such a great day, especially educating the inline 4 crowd!!

Very nice... I don't see any scraping pegs, but maybe the camera just missed it : ).
