As per my previous post, I just recently bought my XB12R,
It seems to ideal & run a liitle rough. I'm not sure if it's because I have never owned a V-twin here are the details
04 with 1400 miles, the bike sat for a 4-5 weeks before I bought it, and because of the weather in So.Cal. I have not been able to ride all that much, Can it just need the cob webs blown out with a little early morning freeway riding? she sounds a little like my Dad's 55 Chevy with a head cold.
any thought welcomed.

IT'S ALL ABOUT " AMERICAN METAL"

Is the bike warmed up? It usually takes the bike a good ride to warm the bike up.

I get that rough run when I first turn it on, but when it is warm, it is a whole different animal.

Same here, it runs a bit rough feeling when cold. Warm it up and the beast is let loose.

The first time I rode mine I thought it was running on 1 cylinder. Until I whacked open the throttle...

The sound at idle takes some getting used to if you're coming over from the inline 4's.

It's funny, after adding a pipe, I could even hear a difference in how the bike is running cold vs. warm.

Don't know, but my12 (o4, with 6450 miles )seems to handle the colder temps, (been around the mid 40's in the morn) very well. I have had 4's and twins, and I would compare the bike to the honda 1100 shadow I used to have as far as cold characteristics. I have had an occasional hard start, and a cough or two if I don't allow it to warm some before jumpin' on and hitting it. If you want rough, try one of those antiquated carb'd sporty's. I got rid of mine after the third time it coughed, belched and tried to kill me in a busy intersection.
Bottom line, I'm not sure what you consider rough, but I don't believe it should seem as though it is running on one cylinder, or idle so rough as to seem like it doesn't want to run. Make sure it has good high quality fuel, clean air filter, and possibly even check the plugs. Just my 2 cents.
Good luck and enjoy!
