Has anybody ran the Dunlop D220's? I ran them on my S2 and then on the XB12R - I had a screwdriver through my tire within 500 miles of getting the XB so I didn't get much time on the stock tires. After all I'm reading, I'm really wondering if I should switch. I've never had any problems running the tires right up to the edge (leaving almost no chicken strips) - maybe it's just because I don't know any better? I'd hate to switch to find no improvement for me. I like the D220's because they tend to last longer (like 5000 miles or so). I know, I know - I've read all the "DON'T USE DUNLOPS" but most everybody who has said that was using the 208's or 207's, or even the older 205's. I'm looking for feedback on the 220's. | ||

I run the Metzler Sportec M1. I love these tires. A friend of mine runs the Perelli's and he has nothing but good things to say about them. I didn't really like the stock tires, and once I got the Metzler's on there it was a different ride. | ||

I just ordered a set of Metzeler M1s and paid less for them than the set of Dunlop 208s I got last year. | ||

I had and disliked the D220's. If I bought a bike that had them on, I would finish them off, but I would never buy another one. | ||

220's suck on a XB I tried them to get more miles. WAY TO LONG to warm up, and slide around like crazy in the corners. I ended up getting another 1k out of them compared to Michelin Pilot Sports. Not worth it for me... | ||

I had 220's on the rear of my bike and I got about 9000 miles out of them. Had a Michelin Pilot Road on the front at the time...that combo worked well. I have since switched to a Pilot Road on the back and the amount of rubber on that puppy is huge...the tread is like 1/4" thick! I expect to get at least the mileage I got out of the 220 or maybe better. I also dropped down to a 170 giving me more of a round profile which I prefer. | ||

I had 208s on my 98S1W but didn't like the that I was changing tires every other month...I just put 220s on and hope to get more miles out of them... I went to the March Badness in Suches, Ga. and did not have any problems in the twisties. However, I probably only pushed 50-75% of my abilities and maybe 60 % of the bike's... A friend of mine has 220s on a firebolt and has over 8,000 miles on both tires... He likes em... All that being said, 220s are probably NOT the best tire if you routinely ride the twisties.... If I did live somewhere were I could visit the twisties on a regular basis, I would probably want the 208s or another brand of tire... | ||

Does anyone have mixed tires, ie, different brand front and rear? I have about 3K on the rear stock Dunlop and the front, stock Dunlop, has about 7K. Bike is XB9R. The front is cupped and causing the bike to turn like crap. I want to get a few more mile on the rear but want to change the front to Pirelli Scorpion and eventually change the rear to Pirelli. Comments? | ||

Scooterroid, I have used mixed tires of same type on several bikes with good results. Probably not the best for serious all out riding or track days, but I never had any issues for street use. A few of my riding friends have also done this with good results. It was good to see you again during Bike Week at Hooters, hope to see you and Ftd next week on the Lakeland ride. Al | ||

I've got 220's on my XB9S. Superior to 207's, but then most tires are, I hear. Anyway, a good tire with long life for street use. I'm happy with them. | ||

YES! My dad runs Dunlop D220's adn he refuses to put anything else on. Only prob is that they only last about 4000 k's but they're fantastic otherwise | ||
