I ordered up the 12 airbox for my 9 way back in mid Feb. 'It' arrived in the first week in March but unfortunately 'it' was another 9 airbox cover! I suppose I must shoulder some of the blame for that cause I had to supply the dealer with the part number which I obtained from another Buell dealer in England and it turns out that was the wrong number. But I did say to my dealer exactly what I wanted, I would have assumed they would have confirmed the number....or am I being too critical? Anyway the bottom line is I am still waiting. The dealer tells me its on 'back order' but cant even give me an estimated ETA! The moral of this rant....should have dealt with Daves....he could probably have strapped the 'box to his back and walked it to my front door in Scotland quicker than my dealer can get me one!!! On a more positive note my dealer gives me a demo bike when mines in for service so hats off to them for that.

Being a parts counter man is a job much more difficult than it looks. You're always remembered for the mistakes and never for doing things right. That being said, I've only met a handful of people that could do the job really well. Everyone else is just some bozo that can't read a parts catalog properly.

My local HD dealer is batting .500 for parts that I've had to order. They're only right half the time.

Sounds like a bridge I wouldn't burn - a loaner when yours is in for service is not the norm.

On the bright side, the airbox cover is not keeping you from riding - so do so. You can't help but feel much better after that.

Other part numbers of interest for you.

I think the problem with some parts counters folks is that they treat their job like no one else is able to do it. If most would simply be willing to say, "Hey, I've got the parts diagram up here on the computer screen. Is this the part you need?" In many cases, yeah, the customer is to blame as they may not know the name of the part in question. Also, when asking for a bolt, that can be pretty generic.

You are right Midnight....the dealer has my loyalty for the loan bike alone! Dont get me wrong, I have a pretty decent relationship with them and wasn't intending to take a swipe at them I was just wanting to share my pain!! well, minor irritation at least. And you are right, the bike is on the road, just come back from a 50 miler around the Trossachs...sounds painful, but its a beautiful part of my country. One thing though, the 208's are shot...I think Z6's are the way to go for me!
