I've had my Jardine on for about two months. It's too loud! Even with ear plugs in, I still have ringing ears when I finish my ride!

Does anyone know if the insert makes the Jardine any more sociable? If not then I'm going to sell it and put the original back on.

I kind of know how you feel. It's hard to tell if the engine is running right since you can't hear it over the exhaust. I've thought about getting the silencer as well. Fom what I understand, the silencer does make a good bit of difference.

Not long had the Jardine on the 12S. Whats this Too Loud? Sounds just right for playing tunes on,a bit loud on a long run but what the hell. At least it drowns out the bloody fan when you give it stick!

Nick,

The quiet insert module for the Jardine make the pipe way quieter. It still sounds good, but not that loud. It will cut you top end power down a bit, but I don't really notice the difference in daily riding. Well worth it in my opinion. And you can remove it on days you want it loud. I think Al sells them at American Sport Bike now.

I made my own...
The problem with the commercial one available is that it's way too restrictive, just sucks the life out of it...

You can get a commercial one, but take it to a metal shop and bore the centre out a little more..

Cheers.

If you decide to get rid of the Jardine let me know. I'm interested in picking it up off of you. If you don't have your stock can I would be willing to trade mine + some cash.

Some people were saying the D&D was too loud also. I have the D&D on my Buell and it's not that loud at all. I laugh to myself now when people say their current aftermarket muffler is "too loud".

I haven't put my Jardine on yet, but I can't wait. I thought the ringing in your ears was supposed to be a good thing?

I think I'm going to sell the can. I feel the bottom end has suffered a little, but that's OK as the top is better. If putting the quiet insert in is going to kill some top then it's not worth doing.

I'll put the can on the 'for sale' section.

I went from the Jardine to the D&D, D&D is a totally different sound, I like the D&D more!

I'll say this much about my Jardine.

I was at a local bike show this weekend and was listening to all of the factory Harleys as they came driving into the show. As much as I've always felt the Harley had a muscular sound to it, after owning my Jardine enhanced XB9R, I have to say that my bike sounds a lot heftier. I would compare it to a stock Chevy truck with a V8 to a Chevy truck with glass packs (or other). I bought my bike used with the Jardine and have never heard a stock XB, so I don't really have anything to compare it too. There are times when I really wish it weren't so loud, but I think if I were to go back to a stock pipe, I'd probably regret it. I think the silencer is a nice idea in that it gives you the ability to change it when needed, such as long trips, etc.

This is what I have to say about the Jardine:

I dont' think the Jardine is put together that well. Like I said I went from the Stock Pipe to the Jardine, had problems with the 1st Jardine, within the first 1000 miles. Had another Jardine and then got rid of that for the D&D.

When I had the Jardine on my bike I noticed that the rivets that hold the jardine together were loosing there grip and I would loose compression. Also, the seals that went around the exhaust melted and it seemed that the same thing was happening with the second one. Since I have gotten the D&D I have noticed it is more of a solid exhaust, better power and just put together better. Plus I like the sound of the D&D more.

But that is my opinion.

I know that I bought my bike used with the Jardine. It currently has about 7,500 miles on it. I don't know how long the Jardine has been on it. I'm thinking for sometime. It appears to be holding up pretty well.

My biggest gripe about the Jardine would be the inability to jack the bike up like you can with some of the other cans. I really wish I could make use of the jack points.

I have read somewhere on this board that is you put the silencer in the Jardine you may loose some of the top end that you gained previously, but you recover some of the bottom end that you lost.

Make an extension for the end of the pipe or get a new helmet. My extension made just enough of a difference.

Fullpower,
I feel your pain. My wife has a Ducati Monster with D&D megaphone pipes. When we go anywhere, everyone checks out her bike and ignores mine. Partly because no one can hear mine when hers is running. So, I have to take her to a crooked road so I can leave her behind and feel good about myself and my bike again.

I know this post is waaay late, but I just wanted to throw my 2 cents in. I just installed the insert on my '06 Uly with Jardine pipe and it's quite a bit softer and NO POPPING!! I tried all sorts of situations to get it to pop and it never squeaked. I've also optimized my ecm with ecmspy and datalogging to get the fuel mixture, but never could get rid of the popping until now. yay
