What would be a normal "prep" time from when I bought the bike until the dealership has it ready?
PS First time buying from a dealership

I agree - I decided on a new Buell at 3:00pm on a Friday and it was ready to PU by noon on Saturday.

I bought mine this Friday and it is still in "prep".
I am starting to think that for some HD dealership, Buell is just the stuff they need to get rid off

And how many other bikes did they sell on that Friday? Just something to chew on. I know when I was looking at a bike a few days ago the dealer said the earliest he could have it ready for me would be Sunday since they already had 6 bikes in the cue to prep for other buyers. Course he didn't realise I was just looking while a tech took a listen to mine.

My Buells are on the floor, ready to go at any time.
15-20 minutes spent with the customer to set up the suspension is all I need.

Hmmm...my dealer was unable to have my bike ready with four days notice...of course, part of that is that the sales mgr (who I called to arrange pickup) never bothered to tell the service department the bike was to go out, until I arrived on site.

Since I live six hours drive away, it was a couple more weeks before I could arrange another visit.

Yep, I got that message too, loud and clear.

Waiting for a vehicle to be delivered...those are some looooong days.

Hang loose. It'll be worth the wait.

You guys have it easy. It was over 2 weeks before the dealer would let me have my 2000 M2 because of a recall on the shock. I'd go to the dealership and make sure no one was sitting on my bike and wipe the fingerprints off the tank.

Those were some looooooooong weeks.

I just bought a bike (2000 M2) from Classic HD in Reading, PA. I live 500 miles from Reading, so having it ready when I showed up was a big deal to me. And I couldn't give them a pickup date, just "when the weather is nice enough to ride it back." That turned out to be a Thursday. I called them that morning and told them I was comming and walked into their dealership at 5:45 PM that afternoon. I just knew there was going to be a problem and I was going to be stuck in Reading. But they were great. I rode my bike away about an hour later.

Mine arrived at the dealership at lunch time and I was riding it home 3 hours later. Saying this they did express things due to delivery being later than anticipated. The paperwork was the bit that took the most time.

Paperwork took less than 15 minutes on each bike I bought.
They had the bikes ready a day after they were uncrated.
I put money down on the Sporty 2 months before it was built, and 3 months before the XB was. I was chomping at the bit!

I bought in Nov and beat the crowd.
