I just picked up an XB9 (with the race kit muffler, ECM and filter) and I'm thinking about getting a power commander. I've looked around and got the impression the one designed for the X1 or S3 will work, but K&N doesn't have any maps to download. Does anyone have a PC on an XB with similar mods that would be willing to e-mail me thier maps? That or anyone know of a site that might have such a map available?

How involved is it to get the X1 or S3 PC connected to an XB. Do the plugs already fit, or am I looking at making my own connections?

I think that by popular agreement the PC111 works better with the std ECU.
You need the 4-wire O2 sensor as well.
I should fit that and the ECU, have the TPS reset then find a dyno that has dynojet's software which talks to your PC111 direct.
The process is painless and takes about 30 mins.
I still have the niggling feeling that my PC111 has mild memory loss as the host system seems to keep trying to compensate for the alterations.

I dunno why you'd need a PC if you already have the Race ECM w/muffler. The PC probably won't get you anything over and above the Race ECM. Throttle response might be smoother overall with stock ECM and PCIII as compared to just the Race ECM.

If you are planning other modifications in the future, then a PCIII will probably better suit your application.

I can say firsthand that tuning a PCIII with a Race ECM is a PITA. The stock piece responds so much better.

Hi you guys, I thought I might share my experience with Buells on the dyno. I am the Dyno Tech at HD Buell of Vallejo have tuned many Buells and run a PC3 on my S3T. Several of the facts about Dyno Jet PowerComanders have been true and yes they no longer produce PC"s for Buells. The reason is in the design of the "Closed Loop" section of the MAP in the ECM. If you do not understand how that system functions all you can do is to down load a generic MAP from the DJ provided CD. Many tuners and most customers didn't understand how to make them work. All 802 PC's are the same even thought DJ used different P/N on some models only the MAPS were different. Any PC3 will work on a XB, but the "Closed Loop" in the MAP is larger on these models. However the real advantage in using the PC3 is installing the optional 02 sensor. It is a powered 4 wire type and can be off set inside the PC to bias the F/A Ratio. Unless you are racing a Buell and have some factory support the only method available is a PC3, but you need a dyno and a good tuner. One of the guys at Tech Support at DJ in Las Vegas has a very workable solution, use the Zero MAP and offset the 02 sensor to the #1 setting this it works OK. I am able to get 99.85 HP out of my S3T and 102 HP out of a 1050 Kit XB9 by using zeros in the "Closed Loop" section and tuning to 13.5/1 in "Open Loop" using DJ Tuning Link Software on our Dyno. ... There are so many issues in this discussion that I am sorry my post ran so long. But I do need to list just one more item. To tune most bikes on the dyno you need to be able to remove fuel from the Stock MAP. I state this knowing that yes three several cells that will need an increase in fuel (too lean). But after running a few thousand bikes I have learned that as rule if you increase the "Volumemetric Efficiency" the bike gets a little richer overall. That's the advantage of using a Tuning Link equipped dyno, you set the parameters and it links the Dyno, PC and Software. Now that I have probably made some of you think I really don't know anything at all let me add that devises such as the "Techlusion DFO" cannot work except to add more fuel to an all ready too rich A/F ratio. There are some very expensive FI control systems out there most will allow "Direct Injector Control" the Techlusion devise simply allows you to select Low Mid or Hi range and increase the dwell time or pulse width to the injector. If you are ever down this way (Vallejo CA) please stop by and I can show you examples of which I speak. We are very proud of our work but do not think we know it all. Every bike I do I learn more and if the 2006 Sporsters have Delphi FI will the Buells be next? Come past and say Hi. ... Thanks for listening

Every bike I do I learn more and if the 2006 Sporsters have Delphi FI will the Buells be next?
Would make sense wouldn't it.

I'm new to this whole Buell thing, I just picked up the bike over the weekend. I've roadraced many bikes over the years. I've given up racing, but still hit a few track days, that's where the XB comes in.

Buell dyno_guy, any chance I could pick your brain off the board once I get a PC? I expect I'll be doing more mods down the road and might need some help setting things up. Most of the dyno shops in town are too rich for my blood. I'd rather try it myself (or slip other board members a few on the side).

What is this 1050 kit? Who makes it? Where is it available?

Thetick, yes would love to help. Again any 802 PC3 will fit and work on any Buell and they can all be tuned with a little understanding and some dyno time. Remember to buy the optional 02 sensor so you can offset the A/F value using a Zero MAP from the CD. . Revolution Performance has a bolt on 1050 cc kit for a XB9 ://www.revperf.com. Hope this helps

OK, Got the PC and the 4 wire O2 sensor, now how do I "offset the A/F value"? There doesn't appear to be much I can do from the PC software. Is this something that needs to be done with a dyno link? If I read your suggestion right the "0" map with the A/F offset will work pretty good. I'm hoping to get some dyno time, but they guys I have locally aren't very friendly or cooperative.
