while addressing the issue of a very rusty muffler with a wire wheel, scotchbrite pad, and a couple rattle cans, i had the grand idea to cut the excess bracketry for the chin fairing off the muffler. the total amount of removed plastic, and steel (chin fairing, fasteners, and brackets) weighs 2 pounds 1 ounce. oil changes are now several minutes quicker, and i think the muffler, being a useful component looks so much better than the plastic formerly covering it up.

Fullpower...agree...looks good and maintenance will be quicker/easier to get to. I have noted a few bikes with the Jardine and chin fairing removed, and thought it looked more like a hooligan bike...liked the look.

Thanks for sharing...Cyko Bob

Funny I was thinking similar, been running without a chin fairing, trying to accurately locate a small oil leak. The bike has a few oil lines, looms, and filter slightly detracting from the rhs view but it still looks pretty good. Still tossing up whether to get a fix under warranty or from the usual home base. Need some oil line plugs x8, and a tube spanner to fit the oil pressure sender. Re my failed batt that the dealer charged overnight and "tested" it for me and tried to send me home with it, I told the guy I'm walking next door and buying a new one because I don't want to be let down, he didn't bat an eyelid. Turned out the old one was stuffed. Saw the same guy 3 weeks later (due to oil leak) told him the new batt works fine he said "well as long as your bike's running that's the main thing". Can't jump up and down as I'd have to remove Megasquirt for warranty, but this tale just reinforced to me what complete and condescending dipwits I have to deal with to get "warranty". Or am I the dipwit in expecting some decent service and customer relations after buying 2 brand new bikes from them in the last 8 years?

Added bonus from the oil leak, took the chin fairing off and now my missus thinks it's a naked bike, a *real* naked bike!!!!! She doesn't like that "little plastic bit". My missus calls it "horn"!
