So I took my XB12R into the HD dealership in January to get the clip (broke with only 1,900 miles on the bike) that holds the clutch cable off of the exhaust replaced and still don't have my bike back. I went in last night and the clip is fixed, but now my bike doesn't run well at all. I could here them trying to start it, and it was running really ruff! I think it ended up just letting out a backfire and dying. Of course, the bike ran fine when I took it to the HD dealership. I guess they had to put the battery on a charger because it was not pumping out much juice, but other than that they shouldn't have done anything but fixed the clip. I don't understand what they could have done to screw up my bike. Thoughts? I thought that by taking the thing in to them in January I would get the bike back right away, but I guess not. I'm pretty pissed that I missed a 65 degree day on Sunday because my bike has been at the dealership for 2 months! What should I do?

Have them replace the spark plugs (on their dime, and before the end of business tomorrow), and look for other dealers in the area.

Two months to replace that clip is inexcusable, unless you told them not to hurry.

Reep is right. Feel the front pipe and see if it is cold right after startup. The front plug is probably fouled.

Don't touch the pipe. Just put your hand near it. I know common sense, just felt we should get that out of the way.

Just a three little suggestions.
1. NEVER take your bike to a Harley dealer for a repair you can easily do yourself, even if it is under warranty. Just order the parts from our own Daves, break out the shop manual, and get the job done.
2. See (1) above.
3. See (2) above.
Of course this doesn't apply if you live near one of the the dozen or so Harley Dealers who really know Buells. Problem is: how to find out which ones they are:-)

Good Question Cory.
Since I live in New York, I am afraid I don't know the answer to your question.
I tried to start a thread where people listed Buell-capable dealers, but if I recall, it got side tracked.
I will say that the dealer that has impressed me the most so far is Tilley's in NC, one of our sponsors, but I am sure there are others, just none with in 125 miles of where I live:-) , the east end of Long Island.
Perhaps someone will start a dealer section in the Knowledge Vault like the tire table page, that would show state, city, and reviews by members of the dealers capabilities.
Like many of the members of Bad Web, I order my parts from Daves, one of our sponsors, and do the work myself, with my riding buddy Gerry, even if it is under warranty: had something broken on my bike every time I took it to my local, Lighthouse Harley, who is no longer a Buell dealer.

I'm with jon on this one! I also wish I would never had got the extended warranty! What a waist, can't even use it due to the dealers all sucking !

I've not heard anything wrong with Daytona HD. I went there once to get a small bag for my bike. The parts counter guy worked to find one. Sadly, non were in stock. Daytona Buell also has a secton for Buell accessories.

Anyone else?

You think this is acceptable when you purchase a $10,000 motorcycle,I know I don't.Hopefully that isn't the whole story, because that sure does make Buell look bad and regardless if it was the dealer or not, that is part of the experience.

I got the bike back last night. Apparently someone had messed with a little knob next to the ram air that adjusts how the fuel system runs. So they had to hook it up to a computer and reset everything. I didn't even know the knob existed, so I know I didn't do it.

I do agree that there is something severely wrong with the fact that I don't feel 100% comfortable taking my $10,000 motorcycle to any dealership that hangs a Buell sign outside. I think that it is insane that the HD dealerships don't know what they are doing. HD has finally found a way to break into that younger sportbike crowd, but they are going to find themselves right back out of it if they don't do something about this. I love the way my buell looks and sounds, but if good dealers are few and far between I'm going to end up back on a Yamaha.

I sure am glad I live near SMHD&Buell, they treat you right, have great Buell Techs, and a really friendly support staff. I've never had any problems with them. They even took a stator out of a new bike when mine went out, because there was an 8 week back order on stators at the time. That was at 26thousand miles.

That part cost me $1.87 as I recall (list price). I could be wrong here (It may have been $2.87). LOL
