ok i tried to install some lsl bars to my 9s last night,and no matter how i tried i could not stop the throttle from binding on full left lock.......everywhere else its fine but it seems the route that buell took with the cables is very congested behind the flyscreen,not the easiest way they could do it as they pack a lot in behind there.....anyone else experience problems when changing to a different bar bend?and any other ways of routing he cables from the standard route between the clocks and the top yoke?...read a few archives and there has been a few instances reported,but mostly it seems to be no problem.....maybe its just my bike | ||

remove flyscreen, check routing of cables, possible that you may find something entangled in there. you can likely find enough slack to make the stock cables work. | ||

If you look up Installing Crossroads on a XB12S, should be under the XBoard, posted @ 2 weeks ago, you'll see I had the same problem. Pics and descriptions to fix were posted. | ||

rocketsprink....... thanks for that,i did read that thread and its interesting,not sure if its the same as mine as my throttle only binds on full left lock,but will be having another go at it tonight so will have a more detailed look at your solution to see if it can be applied to my problem | ||

Mine was the same. Stuck when bars were turned left only. | ||

then ill deff check that out..... really strange though as i never noticed it happening on the original bars,after many attempts to rectify it on the lsl bars i decided to try refitting the originals.....and it still binds!!!!its fine right up until the point of full left lock,then just wont return with the spring action... ill try again later when i get time thanks | ||

well i had another go at the binding throttle cable tonight,virtually took the whole front end off in order to improve the cable routing,tried several different ways and concluded it was binding around the left hand fork leg as the bars were turned to left hand lock,there is no other way to route the cables from the headstock area up to the throttle body,so i spent some time carefully repositioning the area around the headstock where the cables and loom pass through a plastic guide.... re assemble the front end,and tested perfect throttle action at all bar positions so im now a happy bunny,thanks for the cutting tip,but the position of my lsl bars compared to the crossroads negated the need for that mod,also replaced the footpegs with some black anodised items from oberon engineering here in the uk,used them before on a triumph look well smart,ill tale a pic tomorrow and post it up | ||

The horn was the culprit of the full left lock problem if I remember right. Our horn installation looks better anyway, if you ask me. | ||

ok guys here are the pics of the lsl bars now fitted and working as they should,also a pic of the motrax bar end crash protector and the new oberon engineering pegs ive fitted    | ||

I had the same issue ... and read riggas post .. checked the cable movement around the left fork .. and definately was the culprit .. What i ended up doing was removing the cable path from bracket / housing that the trottle cables and Wiring loom are routed to .. Once I did the there was no S shape of the cable and instantly no bind .. Still cant work out why this happens once the bar install starts as it wasnt a prob with the original bars ... may be installer error .. as the cables were moved around to try and get the problem worked out .. But I tried everything .. same story as the other guys .. disassembe reassembe the throttle housing etc .. But once the route of the cables were through the clamp that has the wiring loom .. hence one less bend .. all worked perfectly .. no cutting / drilling etc etc my 2 c worth .. |
