Made it out to the Antioch Fairgrounds to check out Chop's Billetproof Show,a really great showing of old rods and cool cars. Finally ran into Chop in the Billetproof booth where he had bamboozled all his friends and family to assist him in selling shirts, patches, dvd's etc. Greg, Angie,Melissa, her mom,etc were hard at work and sales were exceeding expectations. So I volunteered some assistance for a couple hours while they took lunch breaks. Actually had fun and got a cool t-shirt out of it. Vik showed and jumped into help, also. All in all,a great time. Nice job,Chop.

thanks for helping out FMJ.
The show was wild...
1000+ cars and 2000+ people through the gate. AMAZING.
I spent most of my time taking care of problems that stemmed for the shows size/success, good kinds of problems to have.
We COMPLETELY sold out of merchandise by the end of the day, even after we ordered more than was on hand for last years show. I was floored.
here are some pics from the show:
my favorite bike at the show, a 1928 Douglas flat-tracker owned by Rich Hardmeyer, a former Triumph factory racer.

Very cool! I love the kind of functional deconstructionist feel of the cars (and bikes). Great looking vehicles.

I checked the photos out and it looked like an awesome show. We have James Dean days coming up the weekend of September 28th. Not as pure as Billetproof but still thousands, yes thousands, of old hot rods. The weekend is made up of two simultaneously conducted shows; James Dean Days in Fairmount and the Ducktail Run in Gas City. There's more hotrods runnin' up and down the country back roads than are usually in the packed venues. Anyway it's always a great time. There are several locally owned Joe Ballion Mercs that are always in attendance along with George Barris creations.
Reep, I think you need a road trip!

I think I do also... I started with a few casual lobs yesterday... it went OK, but there are some complications involving my oldest, the Boy Scouts, and a camping trip...
I'm not dead yet though ;)
