I own a 2008 1125r buell. I bought last year with just over 8,000 miles. I am looking for a nice looking exhaust with great ground clearance. Not looking for anything really noisy. My previous motorcycle was a 2003 FZ1 yamaha with all of Dale Walkers add on's, very very fast bike!

Welcome to the Buell 1125 r!!!

There is a very decent range of exhaust systems available.
For me to be of some help, just what are the conditions under which you will be riding? A great deal of work was done by Erik Buell's Elves to get the power out of the Helicon engine with decent track and road clearance. There are a few 'systems' that might surpass the HP but they cost about 1k and are generally configured for specific application such as drag, road race and land speed record.

As for clearance they are already trimmed to the point where most folks would faint before the tips touch the road course.
The muffler is a bit on the heavy side but again, what is your use?

All I ever did was get some Advance Auto tips, cut them off at an angle and radius them to clear the road & keep the exhaust carbon off the rear wheel etc.

Advice being cheap, you may want to put on more miles, do a few track days and visit the strip before turning your wallet inside out. Good luck and stay safe.

Supertrapp/Jardine still sells an exhaust for the 1125R. It's fairly decent looking and isn't overly expensive.
Sometimes they also show up on EBAY, for even less.

Dean Adams who is a member on this board fabs exhaust systems as well, he makes good stuff.

.
Mog my riding is basically street. Some hot rodding around. Looking for some thing to bring out more hp and more ground clearance from bottom of muffler to road. With a little more rumble then stock.

Pic below would fit most requirements. The only drawback would be the amount of noise/volume. To some, it may be too much. Everything else is a bonus. Less weight, more power, clean lines/look.

All aftermarket options are going to be loud. No way around that. However, a conscientious rider can mitigate the noise for the most part. I ride in the foothills so I peddle it while I am leaving town. Not hard IMHO, but you can't ride like an (basically).

Not currently taking any more orders in until sometime after the 1st of the year. Found out I have to work through both Christmas and New Year's breaks straight through with at least 5 or 6 12 hour days. I think I get off Christmas day but that's it. Message me after the 1st to get put on the build list.

I have one each of the Buell Race 60 mm full systems. One drag race exhaust that hasnít been installed yet, and one intended for a road course, I presume, which is bound to be the quieter of the two, with a short ďmufflerĒ incorporated.

Here is a link to a thread with pictures.

http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/290 431/529978.html?1263917561#MT

I am currently running the second one on the street, and even the wife likes it. Not what I would call quiet by any means, but I havenít been pulled over yet.

The drag race exhaust will not be run in the city at all. I might try running it out west of town where deputies are rarely seen, but thatís about it. No sound attenuation at all. Just a straight collector.

I donít believe either of these systems can be bought new from EBR any longer. Dean Adams exhaust looks to me to be about the closest thing to them, but I donít know if Dean makes full systems, or if he does, if he offers 60mm header tubes as an option.

The possibility exists that someone might have a new or used system stashed somewhere they might want to unload.

I have a (no longer made) modified D&D two into one pipe on one of my bikes. It was just obnoxiously loud when I got it, so I rounded up some baffle parts and made a baffle for it. It not only quieted it down, but it added noticeable mid range power.

The other exhaust I have is another orphan, a Free Spirits, formerly made in Italy. It is a slip-on, two into one into two. Interesting pipe.

Thank God that D&D isn't made anymore. I never heard one in person, but pretty much everyone said it went right into the obscenely loud territory...plus it was a crappy performer. The only reason to put a D&D on was to make your Harley riding neighbors jealous.

There was an exhaust shootout for the Buell 1125. (See link below) Based on the results, I chose the Barker exhaust due to the flat torque curve and high horsepower marks. The shootout gives dyno numbers with stock mapping and race map from EBR. I bought the race map from EBR before they went out of business. You can run the Barker without a baffle (very loud). Or, you have a choice of two baffles. The most restrictive only loses 2 peak HP on the dyno (hard to believe), it is almost as quiet as stock. The larger baffle makes the Buell sound wicked and not too loud. Three screws to change baffles. My RX: Go Barker.
