I get home from a month away and go to take the bike for a ride since it was such a nice day. Turn the key on, the speedo does its swipe, the fuel pump pressures up, press the start button and nothing. Great, another battery problem I think. For some reason in my garage if I don't put a trickle charger on battery that won't be used for a month it will be dead or close to dead. Anyways, do all the checks, battery seems fine. Look on the forums here for a possible causes. Low and behold the red/black wire at the key switch is broken off at the soldering. Simple fix, put an extra zip tie on so the cover snap cap will hold the wires tight above the cap. Rerouted the wires so they have a little less stress when the steering goes lock to lock.
So 30 minutes spent here pointed me in the right direction and the bike is ready to go for a rip tomorrow. Thanks to all who have shared their troubles and fixes.

What’s the trick to getting the cap off of the base of the switch? I have one that would shut the engine off when the bars were turned full left. I found and repaired a broken wire just outside the cap, but that wasn’t the one causing it to shut off.
The rest of the wires appear to be intact, but I don’t know if all are attached inside.
