Hi, I'm new, I'm Carl.

I just bought an 08 1125r with 7100 miles for 2k. I rode the bike home but it needs a few things. I'm wondering who I should call for parts? My local HD dealer? (I'm thinking probably not)

The clutch slave is leaking. I see the aftermarket setup. I ordered the aftermarket one and I'm waiting for it to arrive.

The rear brake is sticking. I haven't looked a this yet. Obviously a bad master or caliper.

Can't get the fuel filler open. The key barely goes in.

It's going to need tires. What should I go with? I won't be dragging any foot pegs.

I got a carbon fiber body set with it. (Stock set installed) the story on the bike is that my local dealer raced it for a bit and then stored it for awhile. Then it went to these guys I bought it from. The body kit has local dealer racing stickers on it. Should I install it? Can I cut the headlights into it?

I get a rear wheel stand. Score.

I got factory service manuals.

I'm excited to be apart of the group. Thanks for taking the time to read.

Welcome! Post some pictures, we might be able to give advise on some of the issues and the bodywork.

It recently changed that you can now order parts at any Harley dealer, but I haven't tried to do so yet. If you have a nearby dealer that dealt with Buells in the past you can give them a try. St Paul Harley is Buell friendly and will ship you parts, so you can always order online or call them (ask for Lance) with your needs. https://www.sphdonline.com/

That's a smoking deal, especially with a CF body set. Like froggy said post some pics!

For tires I really like my michellin pilot powers. Dual compound, they wear great and are plenty sticky for anything on the street or track days. I get them at the local Cycle Gear.

If you want a video on the clutch weep

Vdubr928,

I did the clutch slave mod, and it gives much better clutch feel and hasn't leaked. You can get a set of spare O-rings from EBR.

Problems with the rear brake are well-known, google the buell forum for details. You might get lucky and get results from cleaning pistons and flushing/bleeding. If that fails, at least some of the rear calipers are not rebuildable. Again, google the forum for options, but I'd switch to Brembo components if either caliper or master cylinder are not salvageable.

Try a light application of Liquid Wrench or other mild lubricant in the lock cylinder. My filler cap requires a bit of finesse to open, but eventually I figured it out, and the lube helped. If you break the key, new ignition/filler cap/seat latch sets are available, but they are pricey. St Paul HD does have the O-rings for the cap, however.

Tires are largely a personal preference; I'm a spirited street-only rider and I run Metzeler Sportec M7/RR, which are plenty sticky and seem to be wearing well. I manage to use about 90% of the tread on the rear. Bear in mind that the wide rear on the Buells does increase the amount of lean you need to hold a given line over a narrower tire. Once you get the suspension dialed in and get used to the machine, you can get pretty radical and the bike will stay where you put it if your inputs are smooth and controlled.

It's tough to make headlight cut-outs in carbon fibre or fiberglass without making a mess of it. You might get in contact with whoever make the original CF fairing. They might be able to either do the job or give you some good advice. You might try talking to some boat guys who are familiar with fiberglass repair.

I'd flush and refill the coolant (I use Tirox), run high quality oil (Motul 300V 15w50), and bleed the brakes and clutch (Motul racing 600). These are just my choices after some research, but there are plenty of other good options out there.

It's a good idea to check the ignition switch wires where they enter the fairing bracket, as it's pretty crowded and the wires get chaffed and mangled and can break. I spent a fair bit of effort at untangling and rerouting them so the bars could move freely without binding. A similar level of attention to the throttle and idle cable routing can make a big difference there also.

Let the forum know how you got on with all your changes and improvements. We all can learn something from other owner/riders.

Parts for the clutch arrive next week. I think EBR is out of business? I got the other one. Can't remember off the top of my head who they are.

I fixed the rear brake. It just needed bled with fresh fluid.

I drilled the fuel tank lock. I went to a locksmith (who is well known and has done work for me) and he said I was hosed. I have a keyless cap on order.

I bought the Q3 Plus. I don't know anybody else running them. I guess I will have to warm them up and try them out. They are being mounted now.

I probably won't mess with the front fairing on the racing kit. I will just have the stock one wrapped when I have all the rest of the CF wrapped.

I will check the wiring. It has shorter gearing which I will probably return to stock. I just need a stock length belt. I have the stock sprocket. I put some aftermarket mirrors on it for now since they dropped it in the driveway and broke the right mirror. I like them so far.

I'm trying to post some pics but having a problem. Give me a few.

Oh, I didn't get a logbook. Anybody know how to track down the history on this racing number?

EBR's website was pretty much closed for awhile while the dust settled after the liquidation, but it is functional now.

They don't list much for the 1125, as they are concentrating on supporting the 1190 platform.

If you know the part number, you can find quite a few parts in the 1190 parts book on the website that are holdovers from the 1125. Mostly fasteners, special tools, and engine parts. You need to check the part description carefully, as the 1190 uses lots of fasteners that look like the 1125 part but are metric for the 1190 rather than SAE on the 1125.

Hi, quick update on this bike.

It runs great and pulls hard. I don't like the gearing. It has a 76T rear on it now with the matching belt. Has anybody else gone that short? I feel like I'm shifting a lot and the rear spins a lot unless I let the front come up. (Not really my style) So I am probably going to source a factory belt. I already have the sprocket.

I replaced the brake pads. What was left of the sintered pads on it went pretty quickly. They were EBC pads. I put EBC pads on it. Just the standard HH pads. I wanted them fast and they have prime shipping. I've heard some people complain about EBC brakes so I will have to see for myself. I bled all of the lines out replacing the fluid while I was in there.

I had to replace the rubber section of the rear head oil line. It was easy to get to once I pulled the pretty part off the exhaust and got the frame slider off. (as well as the airbox and all that jazz so I could see and break the clamps loose)

I replaced the headlights. They were both burnt. The guy must have been using the brights not wanting to pull the nose. I put LED lights in there and they are awesome. Really bright for me but nobody has flashed me yet.

I did watch the clutch video and I changed to the Oberon unit without issue. It's not leaking anymore. It was easy. I didn't drain the oil. Many thank yous for posting that araingee!.

I bought a keyless gas cap. I am fine with it for now. It was cheap so there's that.

I bought aftermarket mirrors since one was broken. I will probably never go back to the stock ones. The aftermarket (ebay) ones have the blinker on the front but it also is on my side, in the mirror. I love it because I can see when I leave my blinkers on. They look pretty close to stock on the bike.

I am going to polish the factory plastics. Your search feature is great!!!

I may have a 76T sprocket and belt for sale.

I will probably sell this racing bodywork. It's fiberglass not carbon fiber. It looks to me like the bike would only be an inch or two off the ground with the belly pan. That won't work with my dirt driveway.

I did find EBR's site by the way. I have found all the parts I needed except a factory right rear foot peg. Mine is cracked. The bike was obviously dropped at a stop.

I am enjoying the bike and loving this resource. Thanks to all who have helped me so far.
