I don't want to sound like a brag or anything but this bike has just been sooo good to me. I was just thinking it's worth it to just let some happy thoughts get posted. It's not always doom and gloom. Coming up on 40k and as much as I want a new EBR rx,(sexy) I just love my 1125 sooo much I can't get myself to replace it. I bought it new and besides maintenance, I have only had 3 part failures. I just thought people should know that not all 1125s are burning up stators and such.

I would say my posts on Buell forums are 80% driven by angst: you come to the community when things are frustrating and need help.

For every mile not ridden due to a problem with it, there's four times that distance covered in smirks and childish bursts of excitement.

Over 30k miles now on my CR, and it'll never leave my garage, no matter how many times I curse her out in small fits of North Korea-esque threats—they're empty and usually stem from a pining of external assistance. When the engine eventually goes, it'll get changed into an 1190 (or whatever EBR's unique engineering comes up with next).

After two weeks of chilly weather in MD, this week has been in the 70's and I've been soaking it up in full.

I should a valve inspection soon.

Should have the new clutch actuator tomorrow, though I'm away for the next few days. Hopefully will get the actuator installed and watch for clear, dry weather here in the Philadelphia area. I love the bike!

My only complaint about my '09 CR is the seat. It's not so bad when riding solo and I can move around, but the wife loves the bike too, and she's on the back seat more often than not.
When she is, after about 30 miles or so, even with a folded under sheepskin, I am in agony.

But I still love the bike.

Danny, I do have lowered foot pegs. I also have a condition common to guys older than myself thanks to the side effects of various medications, that make it worse than it would be otherwise.

I need to get one of my seats modified with an open center channel and additional padding on the sides to redistribute the pressure points.

Like the seat pictured in sdw's post above.

Like the seat pictured in sdw's post above.

That appears to be a Saddleman seat. I have one - that I bought off Malott442 on here about a year ago - that I want to sell.

PM me for info - if interested,

Panshovevo,

I got yours - and a few others. But yours is at the top of my list as I offered it to you first. I've just been busy lately with an unexpected house guest due to the flooding after Hurricane Matthew. I hope to get some pics to you today.

I'll reply to your PM shortly,

I've probably said it before, but I may not have said it all together at one time.

I was strictly a Harley guy from January of 1980, until last year. I've had and have a variety of mostly older models, but I "souped up" a 1996 Dyna Wide Glide in 2007 by building the engine up from 80 cubic inches and about 50 rwhp, to 96 inches and 107/112 hp and tq.

I also made my first trip to Helen, GA, in 2011, and spent a week riding the Wide. Glide on the wonderful roads in the area that feel like they were made for motorcycles.
I discovered that I liked the twisties, and one day while stopped for a smoke break, saw an unusual bike that said Buell on the lower fork leg, but didn't look anything like any Sportster motor I had ever seen. I asked the rider what the hell it was, and he gave me a brief intro to the 1125.

It caught my interest, but family matters and health issues kept me distracted for a while.
The Wide Glide was stolen while inside a trailer hooked to my F-250, parked at a motel in Orangeburg, SC. To make matters even worse, I had my late brother's gun and ammo collection, a couple of my own guns, an air compressor, a ton of tools, and much more, including two gun safes.

The truck was found 5 days later. The guy driving it ran, and was picked up in New Jersey a couple weeks later. Long story, but he basically got away with it.

Anyway, I got the truck and my riding boots back. I bought an '83 FXR-T (another bike that Erik worked on, according to common belief) but it turned into a major project immediately.
When my insurance company paid for the Wide Glide, I bought an '07 Dyna Super Glide with the intention of building something interesting out of it.
I took it to the Helen area that summer, and was immediately disappointed when the first curve I leaned into, the exhaust bracket hardware dragged, and when I leaned the other way, the pegs scraped way too soon.

Fast forward to last year.

I took one of my shovelheads, the '76 FXE, to Norh Carolina for a shovelhead gathering that happens twice a year at the Kickstand Lodge, on 28 near Robbinsville.

Coincidentally, there was a Buell gathering the same weekend closer to Deals Gap.

I decided I was going to ride the Dragon on my shovel. I already knew it handled better than the Super Glide.

What I didn't take in to consideration was that I had just installed a newly rebuilt wide glide front end with a 16" front tire in place of the 21" tire I removed because I wanted more stability on the interstate. The motor was beefed up a bit, and I had installed a Baker 6into4 tranny, so it was capable of 85-90 mph cruising (necessary for the fast lane in much of Florida).

Long story shortened a bit...I wound up in a ditch near the northwest end of the Dragon.
I think it had something to do with a camber change in the middle of a curve that couldn't be seen because of an elevation change mid-curve.
If I had had the lightweight 21" tire/wheel on the front, it might have made a difference, but I rode it into a muddy ditch and fell on one side.

Within minutes, two sport bikes and a Miata had stopped, and helped pick the bike up. I rode it out of the ditch, and to the pull off on the other side of the road.

Anyway, I got home, and the wife emailed a link to an 1125CR in Orlando.
I went to see it, rode it, and was very glad I had brought cash and a trailer. I had to have it...

If I had ridden my '08 first, I may not have bought a Buell. The difference in the bikes is dramatic.
For one thing, the tires on the '08 are an earlier version of the Michelin power 2CT, and they are worn somewhat flat in the center. This gives the feeling of riding balanced on a rail.

The front brakes are dramatically different. The '09 is a one finger bike, the '08 is a full fist bike.

For now...I'll get it sorted out.

Relaxing on the tank bag while knocking out some interstate. Yes I'm aware that I wasn't wearing gloves. It was 104 degrees in Missouri and the genius I am, I was wearing gauntlets.

Rest stop in Louisiana. Some great times on this bike. MY old xb9 also in this photo. Pretty cool that I sold it to a friend. I still get to ride with my friends and my baby.

if you compare a 2ct to a pirelli, dunlop, metzler and you will see that the 2ct has a steeper rise to center.

wear the front sides down down and that narrow rail feeling increases with a pointier tire giving increased turn in, oversteer.

lots of tires on my 96s1 drag bars, gp suspension forks, penske rear with Dunlops and Pirellis. a shallow rise, less pointy tire. my 09cr is on its second set of 2cts, I like the 2ct when new, as they age they get twitchy (on a rail) near end of life...

Danny, my CR came to me with new Pilot Powers 2CTs on, and I love them. I think I have about 3500 miles on them, and no complaints at all.

Correction...I picked up a hole in the rear last January, so as soon as I could after my back surgery, pulled the rear wheel and had a new Power 2CT that came with the R model installed.
I hadn't ridden it for three months, but I didn't notice a difference between the two tires.
It's not like I run it all out on the track though.

If you guys like the 2cts you should really give the pilot road 4s a try. Cost a little more but they don't get lumpy like the 2cts do and hold their new profile twice as long. Best overall tire I have ever run. I do think that the road 3 is a better rain tire. In the corners I can't tell the difference between all 3.

I got the Saddleman seat from 1313 today, and took a ride to Ft Pierce to try it out.

Usually long before I get to the island, I'm hurting bad.
Not today.

Overall, I wouldn't mind it being a little more comfortable, but compared to what I had, it's great.

Thanks 1313!

I've said it before and I'll say it again--for the price range, there is not another bike I'd take over my '08 1125R. Granted, considering that the 1125s are worth $4k-ish, that rules out everything that's relatively new, but even if I gave myself a $15K budget, I'm not positive that I'd like whatever I got instead that much better. (Probably a KTM Super Duke GT 1290, or maybe a Tuono 1100.) The 1125R is my favorite bike, and it's been almost completely trouble free.

If I was going to buy a sport bike other than an 1190, it would be an MV Augusta. Sexy as anything, and the power to back it up.

I don't even know what they sell for new, but I've seen a few used ones in my price range recently.

MVs are dynamite bikes; had a 2004 Brutale 750. Their reliability is similar to the 1125s, some known problems, some fixes; older ones tend to run hot, hotter than an 1125 in stop and go, and the rear hubs are a weak link

Even though I have an 1190SX which makes more power on paper, I still love my 1125R and CR. All three have enough power to go from zero to stupid in 3 seconds on one wheel.
