I have a stock 09 ECM with stock tune. I was thinking about using it in my stock 08 I figure it's an updated tune that might make the bike perform better. Anyone think of any reason not to swap?

Speedo (IC) interface...what version do you have? ( 08s had parasitic drain due to anti-theft mode, I believe 09s did not, and 09s have more "user friendly" features)

The only thing that I can think of that might be an issue is the mileage on the cluster. If I recall correctly, if you change out the ECM, the cluster should push the mileage to the ECM, and if you change out the cluster, the ECM should push the mileage to the new cluster. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

If you can find a Buell-friendly shop, you may be able to get them to flash the most-recent '08 tune to your ECM.

Or, if you have the cable and the right software, I can send you my backup of the most-recent '08 tune.

I changed the ICs on both of my 1125s recently.
I put a near new takeoff one with 6.2 on the '09, and put the one off the '09 (with 6.1) on the '08.

The mileage displayed on the '09 retained what was on the bike it was removed from, somewhere around 3-4 miles.

The mileage shown on the '08 is what was on the '09 when removed.

The ECM does not automatically push the mileage to a used IC. I don't know what it does with a new one.

The mileage thing only applies to new clusters or ECMs. Swapping used ECMs and clusters all day long is perfectly fine.

Froggy, I may be wrong, but if you swap a cluster with lower mileage, and then sell the bike, that may be a federal offense even if you disclose both verbally and in writing. Just saying.
