a few weeks ago my Battery died and I removed it from the bike and took it to a bike shop for a replacement. As it was a Harley Battery they took down the details and cross referenced it with another brand.

I got the new battery home and installed it. when I connected the cables to the terminals the bike came to life even though the ignition was off and the keys in my pocket. I immediatedly removed the cables after a few seconds and realised the shop had given me a battery with the terminals around the wrong way.

I returned to the shop and told them and they supplied me with the correct battery. after installation I turned the key on and hit the starter . the engine turned over but wouldn't fire up. The fuel pump fuse had blown. replaced the fuse and started the bike. it ran rough for a bit but settled down after a minute. Took it out for a test ride and it went ok for a bit till the engine got warm then it started to miss and buck like a horse and through all sorts of check engine codes. So I search the forums and pulled the codes and most people say the fuel pump is fried. So I replaced the pump (only pump not the entire assembly) and it still hasn't changed. So I thought I may have damaged the ECU so I Changed out my EBR Barkers Exhaust ECU with the original factory one and did the throttle reset and went for another ride...nope still bucking and missing and throwing codes still. Not sure where to go from here if any one has any ideas or info would be greatly appreciated. As I am in Australia people with a knowledge of buells is limited.

The codes it displayed are
U0001 Comm ERROR
P0629 FUELPMP SYS ERR
P0628 FUELPMP SYS ERR
P0087 FUEL PR SYS ERR
P0193 FUEL PR SYS ERR
P0562 SYSTEM VOLTAGE

I understand that some of these maybe historical codes.

In diag mode with the engine not running the fuel pressure is 420 Kpa how ever when the engine is running the pressure fluctuates from 520kpa down to around 280kpa and every pressure in between with in a matter of seconds. so quick its very hard to get a look at the reading as it changes that quick.

sorry for the long post but I have tried to put in as much info as possible for other owners to help me out with

Cheers from down under
Tim

The low battery DTC is probably historical code when I tried to start the bike when the battery was buggered...I remember seeing it flash on the display when I hit the starter...The other codes are probably more relevant...when I replaced the pump I checked both filters on the assembly and they were ok...the pressure sensor is more of a problem I would say . Not sure how to diagnose or trouble shoot one of them???

I believe the issue you have is due to the pressure regulator being damaged by having the wrong battery hooked up. When others have replaced the pump due to the same mistake, they do the entire assembly including the regulator, not just the pump itself.

The system voltage and com errors are normal for swapping a battery. The codes get stored even if the battery is disconnected unlike most cars, so it will remain till they clear themselves.

I have exactly the same problem with my 08 1125R.
Does anyone have the part number for the 08 sensor?
I have an 09 parts catalog but not sure it's the same.
Thanks
