This is what I have after my engine failure when trying to rotate crank.
Any suggestions on where to start. I'm not a mechanic but I'm very capable of the work I'm looking for suggestions so I'm not tearing things down for nothing.
Thank you

There was no metal or plastic in oil when drained it was clean this is after excessive ticking that came from no where upon trying to return home failure happened.
Thanks again for any insight

Possible valve clearance issue? I just checked mine to be on safe side this winter and they were on the tight side minimum spec. With 5400 miles on bike total.

Looks severe enough to remove the engine from the bike first.

that's pretty mean sounding

you definetly want to make your self an engine stand and work it over.
the measurements and plans are on the forum, as is a source for completed stands. OTOH if you're handy with some unistrut and a hacksaw, one can be made rather efficeintly

Thanks guys I was starting to rotate but I figured removal would be easier to work on it.
I have a Manuel and that's good with the stand plans I was thinking that earlier should have no problem building them I'm a carpenter let's see how this here teardown goes smfh welcome to buell ownership

I'm just venturing a guess. I think there was an argument between valves and pistons. It is the most common form of engine failure with these engines. This is almost always due to valve float. When that happens, the valve shim is no longer contained within the spring retainer cavity and can become dislodged. I hope for your sake that I am wrong.
