Has anyone put HIDs or LEDs in their headlights or tail lights? I want to put some in but I have no idea where to start looking.

I was going to put some hid's ihi'sbut ended up putting in Sylvania silver star zxe in for high beams. Way brighter than stock and they should be for almost $50. I ended up getting them for $14 less on discount.

DDM tuning is a popular source for the HID's
and XB lights are the best tail lights out for our bikes. way better than clear alternatives products

I have had both kinds HID and LED. Have 4 LEDes in in 1125R now.

The XB Lights taillight uses the stock housing, so it is literally as plug and play as the stock unit.

I use DDM's HID kits on various vehicles, while it is not as plug and play as a normal bulb, it is not hard to do. You will have to mount the ballast box somewhere, and cut a small hole in the gromit behind the headlight to get the wire to the bulb. New gromits are cheap if you want to go back to stock. After it is up and running, you will need to readjust the headlights, at the stock angle they are aimed too high and will blind oncoming drivers due to the housings not being designed for HID bulbs.

HID are no good for high beams low only take to long to warm up to see good at high speeds thats why I use LED and easyer install 4000 lumens ea. = 30 wattes HID 3400 to 3600 lumens=35 watts.

http://www.ddmtuning.com/Products/DDM-HID-Kit-Slim -Ballast-35W-or-55W

35w, H8 bulbs for R, H7 for CR. Color is up to you, 4300k will get a stock looking color, 6000k will get you white like factory HIDs on cars. The less stock looking colors will just get you more attention from the law, especially if you get the deep blue or purple. Take a look at this chart http://www.darksydetint.com/images/hid/chart.jpg

You don't need any of the brackets/relays/code eliminators, etc. The kit is for two bulbs, you will need a second set if you plan on doing both high and low beams on an R, or for CR owners they have a single bulb kit a little cheaper if you only are doing one.

I personally don't recommend doing both high and lowbeam, there is a few second delay while they warm up until you get full light output, so if you go to flash the high beams, they are virtually worthless unless they were already warm. Not as much of an issue on the 1125s, but on the Lightning/Uly, they turn the low beam off when switching to high beam, so you would have no light for a moment when you switch.

Oh yea and those bulbs Dennis_c has are also insanely bright like HIDs, I've seen them in person, any my retinas haven't recovered.

I haven't personally tried them yet, so I personally have no experience with them, but I will be trying them out in my truck in the future.

I've been running LED headlights for lows and highs for 2 years now / ~15k miles. Bought them from http://www.siriusledlight.com. Was a straight plug and play. No different than changing the bulb as normal.

Also run them on my car. It was a fantastic upgrade from stock, and they have even better models out now.

I was also running a really terrible LED taillight bulb for a while. Picked it up at Autozone on a whim when I needed a replacement bulb. Cost me $20 and it put out pitiful light, and only in the dead center of the lens. I didn't realize just how bad it was until I swapped bikes with someone for a ride. It was scary how faint it was to other vehicles.

Just changed it out for a much higher quality unit off ebay. Much better than stock now -- It's bright. Probably not as good as Xblights, but it also only cost me $15 shipped.

I need to pick up a stock bulb so I can take some comparison photo's between the three.

Running HID's on my lows

LOVE them

DDM Tuning

I DID NOT cut the rubber caps, they can stretch enough to feed through the parts

Dennis (and others who run LED headlights), I bought some LED H7's for my 'cr a while back and found them wanting. I've been watching as the technology for LED headlights quickly advances and wanted to try some of the newer iterations but was hesitant because of the prior experience.

Can you please post a pic (or a link to a pic) of the exact model LED headlight you are using? Thanks.

The LED comes with a extra plastic piece
to clock the led an extra 45 deg. use that piece so the LED comes out horizontal.

They are the same ones I saw. I was thinking of useing them on my car same price to. You might have to cut a hole in the rubber boot on 1125R. The ones I have on my 1125R they came with a rubber boot

I bought a set of the Stark ones. Only one worked so I returned them. A few days later a rep called and said they have a 2 year warranty so they would send me an additional set at no cost.

Well, the one that worked was very bright. But since the other didn't work I went with the Kensun off Amazon. They've been working great. Stark is still calling offering a free set for any vehicle if I change my rating. Problem is, apparently they may flicker on the truck I have so he said any other vehicle...which I don't really need. Maybe I'll just pick up a spare set.

Update:
Installed LEDs for my running lights. I have to say it is a god send! Need to make minor adjustments for maximizing the projection but overall I am very happy with them!

Used these Gen 7 Lights:
