Hey guys, I'm hoping someone can assist me with locating the California carbon canister port on the throttle body. I've install the can before on the XB, and it was very easy to do, but I cannot for the life of me find the port on the 1125 throttle body. The service manual doesn't have a picture, it simply says something along the lines of just plugging it in.

So, someone who has also done the mod, or has taken the throttle body totally off, where exactly is the vacuum port?

Looking at the parts manual, I'd venture a guess that it's on the intake flange, opposite the injector.

I found it, it is on the front throttle body, facing down, on the left side. Looks like a total bitch to get too without taking the entire tbody off, I've never done that before so I don't want tonight to be the first time.

Hey Frank

Been meaning to ask you...
You got one of EBR's Li batteries.

I thought I was going to have a Shorai in the RS so I got one of their chargers.
When I uncrated the RS, I found an EBR battery, not Shorai.

Can I just hook up a Deltran?

Zack

Yea I remember you PMing me about that, I guess you never got my reply.

I believe you can use a standard battery tender (as long as it doesn't have desulfation mode). My EBR battery never came with directions or care instructions, but since it has a balance board on it, it should be fine unlike the Shoarai which needs the fancy charger.

I sent a PM to Dan but never heard back from him, I need to order a service manual USB for my SX, and if possible (but extremely unlikely), the kit for the resonator delete/exhaust tips/Race ECM.

I'll talk to Dan but it sounds like AF1 might have something on hand,
Talked to one of their guys and sounds like they got boned pretty bad...

Thanks for the info.

Why are you looking to put the can back on? trying to kill some of the fumes?

This bike never had it, I don't like the fumes. It wasn't much of an issue at my old place, but at my current place my apartment is directly above the garage and it is stinking it up.

I couldn't even get the vacuum cap off, which is funny because on the XB the cap falls off if you look at it the wrong way. Many XB owners assume their bike never came with a cap because of how often it pops off if you ever have a backfire through the intake.

I decided to hold off and button it back up, it is only about 1500 miles from the next valve check, so I'll deal with it while everything is apart anyway. Oh yeah, my fuel light recently stopped working right, it used to only act up near freezing temperatures, now it doesn't care and turns on and off at will, so I guess that is another thing to deal with when the frame is off. Perhaps I should sell it and buy an RX to complement the SX : )

Ditto here. Now it is on even in warmer temps at startup. It turns off eventually, but I don't even pay attention to it. Actually left me stranded last year when the light came on and only gave me about 5-10 miles before out of gas situation. I usually use my trip meter as as the gas gauge but I believe in this specific case a battery disconnect reset the trip meters, which resulted in me thinking I had more gas than I did. Thanks God my riding partner is pretty McGyver as he found some drip line and an empty beer can in a pretty desolate place and siphoned enough gas from his tank to get me to the gas station....not the cleanest fuel by a long shot but it worked.

Bottom line is the fuel light is garbage right now. What's the fix?

I haven't checked the archives, I know this is something Zac has experience with, but I believe the fuel thermistor on the fuel pump can be replaced to resolve the issue. Par for the course it is cheap to replace, but a pain to get too.

I will keep using my tripmeter. 120 miles look for gas, 140 miles REALLY look for gas

Froggy and Fresno-

My fuel light just started doing the same thing

I have a XB thermistor sitting on my desk, waiting for me to pull the frame in about 500 miles and swap that out on the pump.

Its about a $14 buck part over the $300 something fuel pump assembly.

Heres the number

Kinda of from what I read

for some reason On the XB it was a replaceable part and on the 1125 it was not.

but the one from the XB works in the 1125

EBR recommended against using a battery tender for a storage mode with the Li battery they sold as a "race" part and OE on the RS.
You can use it to charge the battery, but not as a maintainer. This will damage the battery.
Their recommendation with that battery was that if it's going to sit for more than (I think?) 2 weeks was to disconnect it to eliminate current draw on it when the bike isnt in use. }

Thanks ET

So far I'm not doing very well at making the RS a garage queen. She definitely gets ridden more than once/2 weeks.
As she smooths out with break-in miles, the tug to ride her gets harder to resist.

I've even removed the outer airbox, which reveals an almost-as-beautiful CF inner box, to run a Buell Deluxe tankbag.
Gotta have my daily thermos of French Roast.
