Has anyone else noticed what appears to be a knock coming off the rear cylinder when stopped in traffic ( or anywhere else for that matter ) in moderate temperatures? Seems whenever I stop for a red light and the weather is distinctly on the warmer side, I sometimes feel a knocking coming off the rear cylinder while the bike idles in neutral. Haven't noticed it when it's in gear with the clutch pulled in. Goes away once I accelerate. Doesn't always happen, just when the weather is hot, say 25c ( +80s F ) and above. I'm using 91 octane with no ethanol ( at least that's what it says on the pump ) and should be well within norms.

Mechanic talking at the motorcycle shop when I took my KTM in for inspection was taling about the Buell's and BBR's did not know I owned own one. Quote "The worst thing about thous engines is the way they sound I just cant take the sound there's something wrong with them".

I told him, I don't think I will ever get used to the way mine sounds. He looked a little embarrassed at that point but it's no refined Japanese bike.

Really if noise seems excessive I would check your stator and like I plan to do the nut on the clutch end of the crank also. Torque and loctite.

No I don't think it's a regular engine noise. I've had this bike since 2009 and I'm familiar with it's qwerky rattles.

This one is a different and you can actually feel the knocking when you are sitting on the bike.
