Hi Everyone, my first post...so hope it is clear.

I had my Buell up for Winter Storage, had the battery on a trickle charge and started it to let it warm up for about 10-15 minutes every two weeks. Recently, it has started idling very erratically going from 1K to 2K and will even cut out. Additionally, after warm up, when I am riding and slowing down into a turn, the engine has cut out completely. And today, when riding, I had to apply extra gas to keep the engine from cutting out, but then the engine decided that it would increase the RPM on me and I almost popped a wheely in traffic!

It did show an error FR 02 Sys Err - so I'm wondering if it is the O2 sensor.

Questions:
1. Does the board think that this is the problem, or should I do something else?
2. Where can I get one?
3. Does anyone who is very adept at diagnosis and fixing these issues live near Franklin, TN? I'd be happy to meet up to understand more and learn a bit.

Thanks
Brad

I live in M'boro. I am not an expert, but have been tinkering with my CR for about a year and a half. the spike in throttle is usually a response to keep it from stalling. Some simple things to check first would be use fresh gas, clean idle air control valve (IAC), reset TPS. If none of those make a difference u can dig a little deeper, but i have found most issues that just pop up are usually related to one of these things. You might also check the plug connection to the O2 sensor and make sure there are not any exhaust or intake leaks. Someone else may have some other suggestions, i am just throwing out some things to check before digging too deep.

here's an old post with similar issues...sounds like:
1) battery is too old
or
2) Grounds are loose
or
3) ignition switch is failing
hope this helps

Speaking of checking grounds... I changed out my speed sensor last afternoon and could not for the life of me get the battery ground nut removed.

What tool or method is everyone using to remove the battery ground nut (the one that also holds the wiring cover by the rear brake master cylinder and swingarm)? The plastic of the wiring cover keeps any size thin-wall socket (it's 3/8" I think) from contacting the hex nut, and no room for an open ended wrench. I could figure it out. I snaked the VSS wiring through just fine without removing it, but taking the wiring cover completely of would've been nice.

Just throwing it out there since you'll probably check your grounds, Bradley.

use a 1/4" drive, 10mm socket...if you can use a 1/4" drive ratchet...it's finer "splines" give you a chance to turn the nut with out fighting the "full travel" of a longer ratchet wrench...it's kinda tight in there
