I have an 08 1125r and today while riding it stopped charging and the engine light came on. I have read that the 08 stator is rock solid so i dont know what to check.

If you have the manual, go through the stator and regulator check. It's one or the other. On rare occasions it could be the ecm not telling it to charge, but that is unlikely.

No, totally different for charging.

First check your battery, is it the original?
OEM battery only lasts 3-5 years. Mine is still good at 7 yrs.

Books at work but IIRC the voltage should be 35VAC @ 3krpm
If not close to that and/or all 3 phases not close to same voltage, stator is bad.
Connector is under the rider's seat, a 4-pin with 3 yellow wires and a blanked spot.

If the stator test is good and the battery is less than 3 years old, it's most likely the regulator.

Keep us updated.
