I registered to this forum after I rode the 1125CR. I had attended the AMA motorcycling conference in CO and HD had test bikes. After I dented the exhaust on a Softail taking a corner, I rode that Buell every single day, and seriously considered selling all of my bikes and all my gear and everything I owned to buy one. Then HD kicked out Buell so I was worried about parts. Then EBR (Yay!) Then I rode the 1190 last year with every intention of buying it, but it didn't suit me. I'm supposed to pick up my 1125CR tomorrow.

My concerns, other than parts, are that this is my first modern motorcycle. There are no FI bikes in my stable of 6. There's a fast Bandit 1200, a vintage Honda sport bike set up for track, and an old Concours that has taken me across the country more than once, but THIS machine is far more bike than I am rider.
Respecting the power on this bike is not going to be an issue. I'm full grown with crash damage of my own. "It's not the speed, it's the sudden stops." Blah blah blah.

But working on it--I wrench my own, don't ever let shops touch my bikes. Can I do the charging system upgrades and valve adjusts myself? Do these bikes get to high miles? What wears out internally? I haven't seen any of these with more than 10k on the clock--I don't trailer unless it's broken or wrecked. Will this thing go 50k miles or more without trouble?
It seemed, all those many test rides ago, that this bike could do everything I want with style, reliability and a set of throw-over saddlebags. Am I right?

The charging system upgrade is pretty easy as far as wrenching goes but the correct Loctite and tools can be a little difficult. I found the spec'd Loctite types online and was able to borrow a torque wrench capable of the needed 295 ft. lbs. A few very generous forum members have been loaning out the crank locking tool as well. Others have used an impact and the more available Loctite to do the job and have not reported any problems.

Mine has 40k miles on it and it's still running very well. Valve adjusts are easily done. There is nothing really on the bike you can't do yourself. It's quirky in a few areas (brakes, and the known stator issues, and few minor ones). Other than these it's not a complicated machine at all especially when you compare it to today's state of the art sportbikes.

Got it home today...I haven't even ridden it yet!

I'm in the middle of a move and had some emergency work to do in the crawl space to pass inspection to sell the house.

Seller said he had a fellow in NH do the stator. I haven't dug through the paperwork to find out who. Do you folks know anything about this?

Enjoy your ride! It may not be the fastest bike out there but it definitely has soul.
