I don't want this to sound like an EBR bash, but is anyone else a bit disconcerted over the changes in their parts policy?

For example, the Showa rear shock was increased from $699 to $899, and they slapped a "out of stock, see dealer" label on it. I've noticed similar things, such as the brake rotor

So, dual issues - there appears to be a massive price increase on a lot of things, then there's availability. There aren't a lot of EBR dealers yet, and for some of us it's a hike to drive to one.

I'd prefer to order over the internet, know what I'm getting, what I'm paying, what's in stock or not. Having to phone some dealer and get a nebulous price and availability doesn't sound great.

I certainly understand their need and desire to support the dealer network, but I think it makes it a lot tougher for us BMC owners.

It definitely makes it more expensive since the dealers will "need" to add in their markup.

What other motorcycle company sells straight from the factory? None.

Yes, it's what makes EBR different.

But there is strategy behind that.

"I'd prefer to order over the internet, know what I'm getting, what I'm paying, what's in stock or not. Having to phone some dealer and get a nebulous price and availability doesn't sound great."

^That right there needs to be taken on by EBR and their Sales/Dealer Managers to make sure the process of ordering parts is efficient and that they don't screw around a customer.

I've gone to a EBR dealer to order parts and the EBR dealers response was that the EBR factory basically isn't answering the phone for the dealer to get information/ pricing/availability or even ordering of said parts.

The dealer expressed their disappointment in the entire process of the support of the bikes that have been produced so far.

I stopped by a local dealer recently to ask the price of some RX parts. I was told they do not have the parts books. I was a bit surprised to say the least.

I was told the same thing. BUT:

I have the 2 PDF's of the parts books, but they don't do me a lick of good if I can't order anything from them.

When I asked about parts for my CR, our EBR dealer said they were only receiving support for the EBR bikes.

So what your saying is that they are Turing into Harley Davidson? If you don't give them the correct bike type by name they refuse to sell you parts?

That was not the way it was presented to me, the parts guy basically said that when he inquired about parts there was ZERO response from EBR

My discussion with the dealer was that it seemed EBR was more concerned with rolling out new models than supporting the current ones. I.e parts departments don't have the parts books for a rx or sx.

I enjoy riding the 1125, and am getting ready to do some major maintenance this winter. Also wanted to do some upgrades on my own, but if EBR isn't going to support the dealers that Carry their bike or sell their parts than I might just part the F'er out and buy a 750.

HD still owns the Buell name and parts. There may be some aftermarket parts that will fit it, that's what EBR may continue to sell. There may be some 1190 parts that just so happen to fit 1125's, but I wouldn't expect them to support a different company's bikes, that's kinda like asking them to support Hondas or whatever. HD = Buell, EBR = EBR only.

As far as parts price increases, well, they're buying on a smaller volume, so they may not get the same discounts they used to from whatever suppliers they use. I know the ecm jumped $55 or so, that got passed directly to us as a cost increase. I'm sure the other parts will be the same way until/unless they get big enough to warrant lower cost parts from their suppliers.

I have had no problems getting parts for my 1190RX, but I have not needed much yet. I replaced some bodywork on it. I had no problem getting it from my dealer. My dealer lists parts and prices on their website for all to see. They only show the normal wear items and a few crash items, but can get anything. This sounds just like the rumors that 1125 parts are impossible to get. I never had any problems getting 1125 parts either. When rumors were going around that parts were no longer made, I walked into my local Harley / Buell dealer and ordered whatever I needed. My big deal is no 1190 service manual is available. That's not just a rumor. In their defense, EBR told me they would share any info I need if I need it before a service manual is available. Try to get that type of response from any other manufacturer. Let me know what they say.

No rumors this is from multiple people at an EBR dealership.

Don't expect them to support other bikes, just expect them to have parts available for purchase. I can walk into any major brand dealer and order any part for just about any bike. Can't do that for EBR at this point.

I still order from surdyke for my normal Buell parts, but I want to buy some rx parts and can't do that at this point, hell I can't even get a price quote for the parts I want to buy. And I've supplied the part department with a complete list of part numbers.

What dealer are you using that has parts available online? But then again I don't just want plastics I want real parts and all the little nuts and bolts that to with them.

I am using AF1 Racing in Austin, Texas as my dealer of choice. Here is a link to the parts.

http://www.af1racing.com/store/Scripts/prodList.as p?idCategory=2806

I know the parts are higher than the EBR website used to be. They don't list all parts on their website, either. I am picking up a new front wheel, front disk, and front brake pads for my 1190RX. It's not all listed there, so we will see how smoothly it goes.

Word directly from EBR exactly 1 month ago:
"Items that fit the 1190 motorcycles are transitioning into EBR dealerships. XB and 1125-only items will remain on the (EBR web-) store." Seems perfectly explicable (and likely proper, legally) to me. Sure, increasing prices are never a good thing. The only way costs will go down is if volume goes up (so everybody go buy an EBR!)...

As for any EBR dealer not being able to get EBR parts or prices, they must not have any familiarity of dealing with Parts Unlimited. When I visited the EBR dealer in Chattanooga while in the area for business over 2 months ago, the parts guy showed me the EBR dealer interface and even looked up some parts, found their part numbers and pulled up prices right in front of my eyes. For some reason, a motor assembly for an 1190RS is NOT available, but it's not like I had the coin for it anyways...

My big deal is no 1190 service manual is available.
I concur 100,000,000%,

Having been through a couple crashes and repairs on my (2) 1125R's, I've loved being able to look at the factory parts manual, compile a list, hop online and order at the best price.

My dad would ask me if I went to the local dealer. Um, no, ordered out of Chicago. For me, it's just easier and my preferred way of buying most stuff now. YMMV

Heck, living in Charlotte I would online order from Competition Accessories even though the store was only 20 miles away in SC. Why? Well, no tax, no "sorry, it's not in stock, stop back in a two days"

I'm for supporting a local dealer, but frankly they never have anything. I need a jacket and some parts right now, I'll do it all on the internet. I'm not wasting time and gas driving around trying to find a stocking dealer that actually has my size. We were at a local dealer the other day and one of the ladies in my club was interested in a helmet. They didn't have a single XS helmet in the store, in any brand. Really??

When I worked in bicycle shops we stocked enough stuff for the regular buyers and enthusiasts. I just don't find motorcycle shops doing the same.

How's it going everyone? I don't normally post i mostly just read and follow threads. Its a real shame some of you are having issues ordering parts. I recently ordered some parts from San Diego BMW. Im going to convert to the RX radiator and oil cooler set up. I went in and ordered the new L brackets, radiator mounts and associated hardware. I placed the order 14OCT14 an picked them up today. So far all 4 items fit like a glove, I also have the RS race exhaust I bought a couple years ago it too fits perfectly. Back to the topic though, I first emailed SD BMW with the part numbers I wanted it took them a few days to respond because they had to look up the part numbers and their associated prices. I was told that the EBR part numbers are not the same part numbers used by Parts Unlimited, they had to translate EBR to PU part numbers. I was the first person to go in and order EBR parts so it was a learning experience for them. I picked up all but two items today, i didn't get the bolts that secure the L brackets to the cylinder head. Apparently some parts are not yet available to PU, those bolt are some of those parts and were just made available to PU today by EBR, this is what SD BMW told me. The mounting hardware for the L brackets is the same as the 1125s I only ordered them to compare the difference. The person I'v been dealing with at SD BMW is Matt Kary you can reach him here parts@sdbmwmc.com oh and for the military people on the board you can order EBR parts at SD BMW with mil discount. I might have made this a little long, but like i said i don't really put my 2 cents here often. I hope this helps some especially SD area BadWeb members.

Ace117,
I asked about this with EBR via email and was told that it would not be a problem and they would get back to me ASAP. that was 8 months ago. It never happened. I no longer expect it to happen either. Please tell us how much these parts cost you and perhaps some photos and explanation on how you completed the conversion.

Hmmm I seriously doubt EBR is going to start selling RX radiators so 1125 owners can convert them. They want you to go buy the RX or SX.

Figorvonbuellingham,

I agree with you in that EBR isn't going to offer a retrofit kit for 1125 owner however, they are going to offer replacement parts for the RX an this is how I intend on sourcing all the parts I need.

Stevel,
I'm not done with the conversion yet I still need to order a lot more parts. I will start a new thread on this topic and post pics of the part I currently have and my current progress..

For now here are all the parts I inquired for, they are in order starting with page 1 from the EBR parts manual I downloaded from AF1 just go down the list and cross reference. Some of the parts I probably will not order like the oil cooler lines, I'm going to go wit stainless AN lines. I will also probably sell all my take off 1125 parts when I'm done, the bike only has 6k on the clock so the parts are still good. I intend to do a chain conversion and hubless wheels so the list will be plentiful.
