Why is everyone shitting on Fresno? It's an opinion, folks. Reading the butthurt responses some of you make would almost lead one to believe this had somehow become a Harley exhaust thread, occupied mostly by my father and his riding crew, none of whom can hear a damn thing from years of abusing their ears.

I happen to share the exact same point of view as Fresno, and it is this: you have a loud bike, fine, that is your prerogative. If you're going to rock a loud exhaust, please show some respect towards others with your unnecessarily-loud bike. If you and the folks surrounding you (including neighbors, schools, parks, and law enforcement) can coexist peacefully with your elevated sound level, great!

If, however, one of your great pleasures in life is making little kids clap their hands to their ears or buzzing by ladies in Corollas at 8800rpm, I'm with Fresno- you're simply a rude for the sake of being so. You don't have a loud bike because it 'saves lives.' You have a loud pipe because you want attention drawn to you, and it is. Unfortunately for your logic, it's drawn to you in a much greater amount from pedestrians, store owners, cops, and people who already hate motorcyclists than it is from the 'cagers' you purport are the reason for your noise pollution. If you're one of these people, that's fine; we don't have to be friends or ever ride together...but please accept that no matter what your opinion on the matter is, you are endangering the rights of current and future riders to modify their machines.

Oh sorry, "person." That makes no difference to my point, however. Obviously someone who makes these pipes for a living is gonna try to support the "noise is cool" argument.

Again, for the 1% who like the noise....99% mother f you.

I just feel like Fresno doesn't pray what he preaches with having a Barker. It's funny how most people in this thread do say that they are respectful with loud exhaust and yet he still has to be hypocritical by saying we are offensive to "modern society" even through he's rockin a Barkers. Crazy. Is there a way to just shut a thread down just to stop this guy?

Dude, you must not read very well. Suggest you re-read the thread..slowly.

I have never once heard any issue or law stating motorcyclist risk the loss of riding due to loud pipes.

You also posted this, so you might want to do some research on the effects of our noise pollution before you spout off and/or sign up for the AMA alerts..you know, stuff people do when they have a clue.

Lest we forget you are the person who started this thread (which was more appropriate for your Facebook as someone keenly observed)....no way I won't comment on someone who scares a lady with his noise pollution, then comes on here to gloat about it.

Good luck with the sale of your "piece of trash."

I would sure love to meet you Fresno. You seem like a swell guy. We could discuss how I don't care about how loud my pipes are. Yes I said it, I DONT CARE. I am respectful with them and I could care less if you in your great state can ride or not. I have no feelings whether you can ride or not. I did not write this in a PM because it doesn't matter to me who sees this. Yes, I am being rude at this point. For you to trash Dean and his pipes, the 1% are the guys who support Dean for caring about the bike for power purposes and not the noise. You may think I'm rude, screw the other 99%, I ride for myself only. Riding my bike is no team event. Have a great day Fresno,

Sincerely, The one you may call a dickh**d.

Did you re-read the thread? I don't think you did because I never trashed Dean or his pipes...

Please point out where I trashed the guy....

I could poke holes in your last post, but I am tired. I'll just say IF these are your true feelings it confirms my image of what kind of person you are. Thanks for that....maybe one day you will grow up (take some reading comprehension courses while you are at it.)

from the 99% (myself included)

...and this is just AWESOME.

If riders can't support each others' rights...who can?

the others, I'm the only one who matters. Zew2888: YOU are the problem with the motorcycling community, and YOU are the reason we're all going to be a) saddled with ridiculous rules, or b) banned from the roadways altogether.

Thanks for nothing, dickhead. Go find another forum.

For all you loud pipe people out there.....they are not necessary for power. If loud was synonymous with power, bikes like the BMW s1000r and Aprilia Factory and others with 200hp would not be street legal. So if it isn't for power, why?

Fresno your a tool. I don't need an outlet such as a Facebook account for any pop culture needs such as you. If I want to chat with soccer moms I will take my daughters to gymnastics on Tuesdays or actually go to one of their soccer games. A forum about one of the things I love is enough to satisfy a superficial cyber net relationship for me. My pipe is loud. SO WHAT. I chuckled. No gloating, no rejoicing, no delight as if I had just wrecked your wise ass. People that are arrogant and stand up on their podiums to preach at everyone else and be rude like you most likely didn't get the opportunity to have someone whip their ass when they were younger. Ever reminding them for life that there are people that just don't give a and will check your ass given the opportunity that you open your c*nt box and be disrespectful.

I always chuckle when the the "loud pipes are my right" crowd complains about hearing things they don't want to hear when they don't want to hear them.

Reepicheep, you made me chuckle with your petard-hoisting.

People that are arrogant and stand up on their podiums to preach at everyone else and be rude like you

I gather you truly don't see how ridiculous this statement is. You started this, homie. The big difference is your transgression was a tangible assault on someone's ears, which you then bragged about. Why is someone not allowed to take opposition to that and state their opinion? Wait, they are...and when they do, you send out internet tough-guy vibes. Good one. If you don't want to face comments that are contrary to your opinion, stay the eff out of threads where people express opinions. At least you have a choice there, unlike those of us who live near a cockbag with loud pipes and an inferiority complex.

Well, I said it nicer than that. : )

I think we all need to be more tolerant, and we all need to be more considerate.

More tolerant means I try hard not to be bothered when somebody rides by with loud pipes. More considerate means people don't ride by with loud pipes in the first place.

I can control myself best of all, so I took the loud pipe off my XB9, and I try not to be too impolite to people with loud pipes.

Well, we can't hear anything over fresno's barker. I thought we made that clear. I don't even know how he rides because every time he goes out he offends the weak, feeble, and old with that can.
I guess I'm just out of control.

Well here's my last thought on this thread:

Many great inputs on this and I respect all who took the time to voice an opinion.

My take is; we all ride for different reasons, some just commute, some race, some ride for pleasure and many do all those things. For me now I just ride for sport and why I ride one of the best sport bikes out there.

Now I became an adrenalin junkie back in my youth when I was drag racing the streets of Chicago during the muscle car days. I became addicted to acceleration both in cars and on a bike and have had many great accelerating cars AND bikes.

Having lived in Utah for the past 33 years I have done Bonneville many times on three different bikes. Fun but kind of boring, even at 150+. And much dirt biking both here and in Illinois, BUT, these canyons, WOW!, and on my 1125R, it just can't get any better.

Picture this; head out usually just once a week, usually on a Sunday morning when traffic is light with full gear, cruise slowly and reasonably quiet to one of the canyons a mere 20 minute ride away and start my runs. When clear and safe accelerate rapidly to a point where I need to brake for the next turn, hang off around the turn and start my next run to the next turn all the time listening to a great engine, the wind and of course a great sound from my pipe. Then repeat for 20 miles or so AND always being respectful of other vehicles and especially these canyon conditions. The adrenalin pump is still addictive and exhilarating. A very focused riding style is a must while trying to enjoy the ride and stay safe and I'm in great shape yet for doing it.

Now many of you "sport" riders do this as much as I do and for me, like the sound of an F1 car or bike, a top fuel dragster or even an F16, F18, etc. on full after burner. Being near Hill AFB the guys take off and fly over my house on full AB with their starboard wing vertical so I can see the big smile on the pilots face. The short temporary loud sound they make, to me, is thrilling and not annoying.

Respect for each others lives is very important and I will respect your life style if you'll respect mine so long as we do not harm anyone in the process. If anybody thinks I'm harming someone with my loud pipe in the canyons they should maybe think of wearing hearing protection. Noise is everywhere my friends AND I like the serenity of the back country as much as anyone ever could even with an occasional annoying ATV or snowmobile coming by. Their not hurting me in any way. Just my take FWIW my friends. Bob

Short of having a non-stock pipe and having zero canyons to carve, I'm right there with you, Bob

Your plan sounds like that of someone displaying a sensible approach to discretionary behavior by an adult motorcyclist. Not only can I understand, but I fully endorse it- the riding, the pipe, all of it, simply because of this statement: Respect for each others lives is very important and I will respect your life style if you'll respect mine so long as we do not harm anyone in the process.

The reason why Matteson's post (which, to be honest, was a sorry-I'm-not-sorry humblebrag about scaring someone on the freeway) was met with disdain by some of us here is quite easily grasped by some, but pretty obviously not understood by others. I won't continue trying to explain it.

I never said I scared anyone. I don't need to brag. Never once mentioned a sorry to anyone. F*ck for all I know she said screw you for speeding up and overtaking her so I could merge onto the freeway safely and get up to speed. In any event; my discretion to purchase a loud pipe whilst putting a grin on my face each time I ride has caused a ruckus amongst us. I have cdl licensing with endorsements and run a mobile crane for a living. I have three kids and a wife that all rely on me to provide. I would never do anything to risk or ruin that. I ride with respect. IF you think you should stand on a podium and condemn then just remember usually the faults we find in others are within ourselves too.

What I REALLY find offensive is someone who stands on a soapbox preaching tolerance and respect and soaks up most of the comments on a four page post arguing with people over their opinions on exhaust. including arguing with D Adams who makes a very nice pipe
