Been running q3's all season and getting 1800ish miles out of a set. I use the whole tire. Looking for a more "long term" replacement to do some commuting on but still be able to throw her around the twisties. Found a set of Pirelli angel gt's shipped for $267 from rockymountainatv.com .
They've been getting pretty good reception and apparently are pretty grippy. Anyone on here use them?

Just put a brand new one on my rear yesterday. Love it so far. From what I've heard it doesn't get the best mileage of the bunch, but not the worst either. Definitely really grippy. I worked on trying to get the paint of the edge of the tire last night : )

My initial take on the tire is very good. Doesn't try to fall in as much and is definitely "springier" on it's way out of a curve. I still have a corsa on the front (picked up a nail in the side of my rear) so I'm sure that effects the ride quite a bit.

If you're in the market for other opinions on a commuting tire I've heard very good things about the mileage you can get on the new Battlax S20's.

I use the Angels on my 1125s and XBs, it is my current favorite tire. Plenty of grip on the street, and lasts forever (I get about 8-10k miles per rear). I highly recommend it for everything outside of dirt and track days.

Pilot road 4 is super impressive. I use the whole tire. It puts the sport in sport touring. My favorite tire to date.

Thanks for the input guys.

I read up on the s20's and from what I understand they are very similar to q2's on the spec sheet. Based on what I've read and taking my riding style into account I wouldn't expect much more mileage than what I get out of q3's : ( but. Bridgestone is currently offering a $40 rebate.

I looked into the pilot roads and considered going with a 2ct front and a road rear. The horizontal sipes on the front tire of the road series concern me. How do they react to heavy front braking? I'm really not a big fan of the 2cts either honestly. I don't jive with the profile. However, I ran them earlier this season on the 1125 and last year on my xb. I got about 3500 on the xb and 3000 on the 1125. They stuck well enough I suppose.

I REALLY REALLY wish the dunlop sportmax sportsmart was offered in the U.S. I actually looked into shipping a set to the states but it would take too long. I've got a big ride coming up in a week or so. It would take 2-3 weeks for them to get here.

Froggy, how hard do you push the angels on the street? A big thing that turned me onto the angels was a fellow from another forum that tracked them on his fz1 and was preaching on them. (Everything on the internet is true right? Lol) I'm hoping that I won't have to change my riding style too much from the q3's to the angel gt's. I know it's inevitable though : (

Day to day riding for me is commuting and touring duty. I do on occasion ride hard in the twisties, and they are still fantastic for it, even while 2up and have cargo. The tire grips great, it is one of those things that if you are pushing it hard enough to start feeling it slip, you should be on a track anyway. It is fantastic as long as you are not being a dumb-ass and riding at 10/10ths on the street.

If you are one of those guys who feels the backroads are your own personal race track, I'd stick with higher performance tires like the Diablo Rosso Corsa, of course with the tradeoff of shorter life.

I had Michelin p2 0n my 1125. Didnt like them. Very twitchy front at high speeds.

What about the Rosso ii's? They're supposed to be a nice compromise between performance and mileage. And they're about $40 cheaper than the angels.

The rosso ii's are a more street oriented version of the rosso corsa's correct?
Pirelli's tire names confuse me. lol

I just put a set of S20's on after I went through a set of Q3s.
I love this tire. Most fun tire I have had on the bike. Quick, stable, predictable. Really a hoot.

S20's are great tires no doubt. I preferred the q3's though personally. But if I had to choose between the two I would pick the cheaper as they are both outstanding tires.

Bridgestone t30's are supposed to be pretty awesome too. Seeing as I havn't ordered the pirelli's yet and bridgestone is offering a $40 rebate... I may just jump on some t30's. Or maybe a t30 rear with an s20 front?

GAH! I hate tire shopping : (

The more I'm riding on this angel the more I'm falling in love with it. Just me though.

update, ended up with the bridgestone t30's. Ill have a total of $180 in them after my rebate comes in. Put them on Friday night and then took them up to hocking county and thrashed them for a solid 10hrs.

Overall. They're pretty good. They do not stick as well as the Dunlop q3's I've been running (obviously) but I was able to get pretty low and maintain good corner entry speeds with confidence AFTER I ran them for a bit. Initially they were sketchy at best on left hand turns in particular and tracked a lot. but they quickly sorted out. After about 700 miles and sadly a good bit of time on the slab the tires still look brand new whereas usually my Dunlops would be at about 70ish % at this mileage. Ran them in the rain this morning. At 65 degrees and wet roads traveling at approximately 75mph I was able to whack the throttle open in 6th and slide around however I pleased. Driving like a sane human being they handled well with no issues.

I'm excited to see how long these last.

I haven't tried that pirelli, but I have had the bridgestones and michelins and the stock pirelli and rosso and I have finally settled on the Avon.
I have always been a fan of Avon, and I find the 3D ultra sport to be my favorite so far for street use. I get easily twice the mileage of the stock pirelli, with at least as good handling and side grip, but with the best stability, great turn in, no falling in, and decent rain use, although I ride pretty slow in the rain. And the overall feel I like the best too.
I haven't tried the new bridges or the angel, or the Q3 for that matter, but Dunlops I gave up on after my Cyclone, never seemed to last.
I'm even willing to pay a bit more for the Avons if I cant find them on sale.
